Yes, I have been on this road you refer to. It is a lovely road which also
interlinks with roads coming from Belur and Hassan. Have been in it during
the rainy season, looked good when I went 4-5 years ago.

An alternate and possibly more interesting route would be:
Carry on till Sakleshpur on NH48. Just as the town is about to end, a
narrow, smooth and very inviting road winds away on your right into the
unknown (not really ;-)). If you cannot locate it, ask anyone in Sakleshpur
for Hanbal road, Mudigere Road or Charmadi Ghat road. Take this all the way
till Kottegehara (you will hit the Mudigere - Kottigehara road mentioned by
Kumar sir below at someplace, forgot the name). From K'hara, the route has
been already detailed by Kumar sir. A stretch of 10 kms before K'hara was a
no-road when I rode there 2 yrs back, not sure now.
You can stay at Silent Valley resort near Kalasa
(http://www.greenplanetresorts.com) - reasonably good place to make a base
and road around.
N'joy!!
Rahul

Hey ,
Belur to Kudremukh will an awesome ride. You will have to be careful till
Hassan on the NH48 with so much of road widening work going on.
Depending on where you stay in Bangalore..taking the NICE road till
Nelamangala would be a good option to look at.Even if you stay towards
Indiranagar ...taking the NICE road via Bannerghata would be faster.
Also,if you go in the mornings ,I would say it would be safer to cross
nelamangala after 7 am when most of the bangalore bound buses have crossed
this stretch.Early mornings....this is one very dangerous road.
The national park in Kudremukh is one superb place to be in .
Ride safe and enjoy maadi :)

Route to Kudremukh:
Take Nh4 to Nelamangala, via Yeshwantpur (Tumkur Road), 20 kms from
Yeshwantpur
Turn left onto NH48 at Nelamanagala
Go via Kunigal, Yeddur, Channarayapatna to Hassan, 150 kms from Nelamangala
Take the Hassan bypass, don't go into city, go 3-5 kms
At the end of the bypass, the road straight goes to Mangalore via
Sakleshpura, there is a road to the right marked for Belur, turn right onto
that road
Belur is 36 kms from that point
Turn left here, straight road goes onto Chickmagalur, and onto to Mudigere,
which is 35 kms away
From Mudigere, go via Kotegara to Khalasa, 60 kms
Kudremukh is 20 kms away from Khalasa via Samse and Bastrikal Check Post,
That adds up to a total of 326 kms from Bangalore's Yeshwantpur.
You could also come to Mudigere via Chickmagalur which will add 25 kms more.
Belur is a good stopover. Halebidu is also close by.
I have no idea what you have in Kudremukh, have always driven by.
IN case you are a temple-hopper, Khalasa has a famous Eswara temple and
Horanadu temple is just 9 kms from Khalasa.
But the countryside will be lovely during this time of the year, with heavy
rains.

Hi All,
I have been a member of this group for a long time now.
Really enjoy the posts and the knowledge of this group about any road
condition in the country.
Well i am planning to go on a bike trip to Kudremukh.
I googled and found that its 350 odd kms from bangalore.
Would roughly take 8 hrs on my bike (Pulsar 150)
Can you please help me with the route to Kudremukh and also the places to
visit around it ?
Basic itenary:
Day 1 : Leave as early as possible. Reach in 8 - 9 hrs.
Day 2 : Full day to roam about in Kudremukh.
Day 3 : Leave for Bangalore as early as possible.
I have done many long rides on my bike.. and i am an avid biker.
Was planning to have a bike trip to Leh and Ladakh from Delhi... with my
friends.
But had to drop it... recession blues.. :(
Thanks in advance for your help.
Regards,
Sayantan.
