The Indian Steam Railway Society (ISRS) was formed on October 23, 1999 when
a group of like-minded people met and discussed the present position and future possibilities regarding the preservation of Indian Steam. Subsequently, a formal non-profit Society was formed and it has been
registered with the Registrar of Societies, Delhi.

The objective of the Society is to form a common platform for the Indian Steam Railway Enthusiasts to exchange views and further their knowledge on the subject of Indian Steam Railways. The Society will make representations to the Indian Railway Board for more and more tourist special trains hauled by steam locomotives in the near future. The Society will also endeavour to preserve all remaining steam locomotives in a manner that is best suited to their current status.

This yahoogroup mailing list is for easy communication between the
members, patrons, and friends of the society. Periodic announcements,
relevant documents, and meeting minutes will also be sent through this
list.

Please note that the postings on this mailing list should be kept
related to Indian steam railways of the past, present and
future. Anti-steam sentiments expressed in however subdued a fashion are
resented by most members, so please avoid these.
