Hi all,

here is a technique I used last night and found very helpful.

I invite yo to try the following...

Ask "What story will help me to gain greater understanding/clarity on
[issue]?"

Draw 3 cards. These will be the Beginning, Middle and End of your story.

Now write down at least three associations for each card. You should
end up with 9+ meanings associations.

Next, take each meaning and write out 3 insights that it provides, in
the form of a storyline.
Proceed through all the meanings associations. There should be a
sense of arriving at a climax/resolution in the last 3 insights.

You can then use the story as a metaphor for you work. This hopefully
will suggest a symbolic name for you to take on.

I did this last night and found it very helpful, with my own business.

The only real differences from the normal approach are that instead
of 1 card and 8 meanings, we have 3 cards and 9+ meanings. Instead of
seeking insights answers, we are seeking plot points in our story.
And there is an Story Arc - beginning/middle and end.

Most of all, have fun with it.

If you need any greater clarity, please let me know.

And be sure to check out my blog at http://www.thecreativityhub.com/

>Hi Rory,
Haven't used mind-mapping with the IVD yet! but will be doing soon,
as I already use mind-mapping a lot. All the best with this new
venture.

One approach I have recently been experimenting with, is using a
mindmap layout when working with the Inner vision Deck.
Here are the steps:

1. Start with a blank sheet of paper, A4 or US Letter size, landscape
style
2. Write your question on the top of the page
3. Write you score for how answered the question is beside it.
4. Draw you card, and write the word/phrase in the centre of the page.
5. Write your associations as spokes radiating out of the central
word/phrase until you have your 5-8 Associations or meanings
6. Working with each association in turn, list the 3 insights or
answers, radiating from these. You will end up with 15-24 spokes.

This approach allows you to jump back and forth as you make your
associations, drawing out your awareness.
The main challenge I have found in using this approach, is lack of
space. I may start to use this with A3 sized paper instead, though
this is less portable for me.

I would appreciate any feedback on this approach? Or have you
developed a unique approach that works for you? Please share it.

Hi to everyone who has been signing up for the ivdforum group. I'm
really looking forward to how The can all learn from each other and
help the Inner vision Deck to be effective for you, and all the new
people discovering it.

I would like to invite you to start posting questions, as I'm
guessing that this will help to get things rolling quickly.

To start things off - What do you find most challenging about using
the Inner Vision Deck? and What areas of the instructions require
greater clarity for you?
