The United Nations World Food Programme is announcing a vacancy as follows:
Position: Driver
Duty station: Gori
Contract type: Temporary Appointment (TA)
Duration: Up to December 2009 (with 1 month probation period)
Reporting to: Head of Sub-Office
Reference number: D-002-09
Responsibilities:
Under the general supervision of the Head of Sub-Office and the second supervisor - Finance/Admin Officer or any other delegated staff, the Driver undertakes the following duties and responsibilities:
** Assist all staff members with official transport tasks including delivery of mail, documents and others items.
** Meet official personnel at the airport, railway, border crossing, and facilitate immigration and custom formalities as required.
** Drive official vehicle with highest standards of safety, consideration for other road users and strict adherence to traffic rules and regulations.
** Keep updated log books for all trips with signatures of travellers, daily mileage, fuel consumption, oil changes and greasing, etc.
** Take care of day to day maintenance of the assigned vehicle, check oils, water, battery, brakes, tires, perform minor repairs and ensure that vehicle is kept clean.
** Report immediately to Administration/senior driver in case of defects in vehicle and make arrangement for repairs.
** Prepare monthly report of fuel usage, mileage, repairs and maintenance for vehicles.
** Ensure that the required steps by rules and regulations are taken in case of involvement in an accident.
** Perform any other duties as required.
Required:
** Secondary education
** Clear professional driving licence
** Knowledge of regions
** Basic knowledge of English language
** Vehicle maintenance skills are desirable.
