Subject: Why You Need A Backup Sump Pump
damion.ruthe...
Send Email Send Email

A backup sump pump is an important part of any sump pump system.
You may think one sump pump is enough. However that is not always
the case. To begin with, when do you experience the worst of your
water problems in your basement? When it rains. What often accompanies
rain? Thunder, lightning and consequently, power outages. How will
your sump pump function without power?

With sump pump backup systems, it is a good idea to have a battery
backup system that will kick on in the event of a power outage.

Furthermore, that backup system needs to be from the same manufacturer
as your sump pump itself. You wouldn¢t have a vehicle with Honda body,
a Chevy engine and a Ford transmission. It just wouldn¢t make sense
and it wouldn¢t function properly. So, why would you risk an even
bigger investment (your house) with a pieced together sump pump system?

Backup sump pumps are an essential part of backup systems. You need
to have an additional sump pump for a couple of reasons. First off,
what if the first pump can¢t handle the volume of water? A second
pump on the backup system can kick in and assist the first one with
removing larger volumes of water.

Also, related to power outages, what if there is some sort of surge
or brown out that damages your main pump? Even with a battery backup,
if the pump is damaged, it can¢t work. That¢s when the second pump
can kick on and save the day and your home¢s basement.

Wouldn¢t you rather be able to fall asleep to the sound of the raindrops
pitter pattering off your roof rather than staying up all night bailing
water out of your home?

A properly thought out and designed sump pump system with an additional
backup pump and backup power supply can give you this much needed peace
of mind. A professional waterproofing consultant can help you design
the system for your home and make sure you stay high and dry.

Subject: Concrete Sealers - NO WAY!
damion.ruthe...
Send Email Send Email

What is a concrete sealer and how does it work? While concrete
is a very hard durable material, what many people do not realize
is that it is actually quite porous. Concrete can allow water to seep
through, much like a sponge.

This can lead to water infiltration in your home’s foundation and
basement. Because of this, some people might think that sealing
the concrete would be a solution to their wet basement problem.

Concrete sealers are products designed to repel moisture from
concrete. Sounds great doesn’t it? Think again. While these
products are great for driveways and sidewalks, they are not a
feasible solution for a wet basement.

A concrete sealer can actually trap the water inside the concrete
which will cause further structural damage. Even so called “penetrating”
sealers do not last long and can be sensitive to freezing and thawing.
In addition, these may also stain your concrete in a way you do
not care for.

If you use a concrete sealer on only the interior of your basement,
the water will still seep from the outside into the concrete blocks.
With the sealer stopping the water on the one side of the block,
the water will become trapped and begin to weaken and damage
the blocks of the foundation.

Before you even realize you have a problem, you may find that
your foundation walls are seriously compromised and your
foundation is structurally unsound.

A professional waterproofing contractor can inspect your
basement and determine the point or points of water infiltration
and recommend a solution that will leave you with a dry,
structurally sound basement.

(Marcel Proust).

Taliscope or Talisman-Horoscope

The year 2009 will be marked by the launch of a brand new product, Taliscope ( http://www.taliscope.com ), already in high demand by Internet users and will be broadcast on a daily basis. The Taliscope is a talismanic calendar which provides for each day of the year a talisman in the form of a 4x4 magic square, whose first line is made up of figures of the chosen date. The Taliscope combines several parallel sciences as clairvoyance, esotericism and astrology. The Taliscope also helps you to find all the lucky days of the year.

From Friday 13th to Taliscope

The history of Taliscope is linked to the famous myth of Friday 13th. Indeed, a few years ago, to his great surprise, Titus Nguiagain Ph.D. [economist with a doctorate from Laval University, Quebec, Canada] realizes that the fear of number 13 [triskaidekaphobia] or that of Friday 13th [paraskevidekatriaphobia] is an international and tenacious phenomenon, with major socio-economic costs. Unfortunately, there was no year without at least one Friday 13th. For each Friday 13th, losses are estimated at over one billion dollars in the USA, representing a global shortfall of 3 billions for years with 3 Fridays 13th. In that fateful day, the most superstitious [they are over 20 millions in the USA, according to Dr. Donald Dossey] do not dare to leave their homes, will not go at work, postpone running errands, going shopping and travel, do not take aircraft, not signing contracts, and so on.

The fear of number 13 is the most widespread superstition in Western culture. Note that the word "superstitious" has 13 letters! ... In many cities, there were no homes bearing the no. 13. Engineers and architects are fuelling this superstition: with skyscrapers, hotels without the 13rd floor or room 13 (which becomes 12bis or 14a) and lifts without the 13rd floor, and with airplanes without row or seat no. 13, and so on. ... The Formula 1 drivers do not wear no 13 because they are afraid of the number 13 since the death in 1926 of 2 pilots bearing this number. The writer Stephen King, famous triskaidekaphobia man, always avoids to read the pages no. 13 of all books. Furthermore, the issue on the myth of Friday 13 is recurring, because any year, as normal as leap, include at least 1 Friday 13th and a maximum of 3 Fridays 13. It was therefore not finished to hear about it. The maximum annual 3 Fridays 13 is achieved if the 1st day of the year falls on a Thursday (of a normal year, 28 days in February) or Sunday (of a leap year, 29 days in February). The interest of Titus for this important phenomenon has thus led him to publish a complete book on the subject, "Myth of Friday 13" [ISBN 0-973738-01-4], free electronic version to link http://www.vendredi13.us  or http://www.vendredi13.co.nr .

This website has become the world reference on the subject, as to be ranked very first page in the Google search engine (it is enough just typing the term "vendredi 13"). Initially, the webmaster offered paraskevidekatriaphobia people a forecasting calculator for Fridays 13, to enable them to know in advance the fateful dates and take measures to minimize the discomfort and the surprise effect. Not enough they have concluded. In addition to the forecast of Fridays 13, they wanted a protection or a cure against them. The eagerness of readers has finally awaken the shaman hidden in the webmaster, which has thus provided a real talisman against Friday 13th, based on magic square of order 4, whose first line is made up of figures of the current date for Friday 13.

Nature and structure of Taliscope

The Taliscope is a talismanic calendar which provides for each day of the year a talisman in the form of a magic square of order 4, whose first line is made up of figures of the current date of the day. Known for millennia, by definition, a magic square is a square with the sum of each of 4 rows, 4 columns and 2 diagonals always gives the same total, called magic total. Among famous magic squares, there is the Chinese Lo-shu (3x3 square dating from 2800 BC under Emperor Yu-Huang), the square of order 4 in the famous engraving Melancholy of German painter Albrecht Dürer (1514), that of order 8 by the American president Benjamin Franklin (1750), the square of order 4 of the Sagrada Familia or angels'cathedral in Barcelona, by the architect Antoni Gaudí (1884). For each month of the year, there are some thirty talisgrams or taliszips, detachable and printable, so that we can carry as lucky charm, mascot or talisman for the day.

In the taliscope each year is marked by the vibration of 6 (six) specific numbers which are found in all the 365 daily talisgrams and are always at the same positions in each of magic squares. The first two pairs of characteristics numbers of the year [21 - 8 and 7 - 18 for the year 2009] are formed by a sub-square 2x2 in the middle of the first two columns of all talisgrams, while the last pair of numbers [6 - 19 in 2009] can be found at the end of the last line of talisgrams.

In addition, each month of the year is placed under the vibration of his own talismanic number. The latter is the rank of the month reduced by one unit. The successive talismanic numbers will therefore go from 0 to 11, or 0 in January, 1 in February ... up to 11 in December. The position of talismanic number is stable in all talisgrams.

Taliscope versus horoscope

While the horoscope confines itself to identify your destiny, good or bad, but without more, the Taliscope protects you against the evil spell, with the magic square-talisman. Contrary to the horoscope which makes use of the language of words or alphabets, a variable language, unstable and with its "false friends" [for example, French word "librairie" is not library in English but rather bookstore!], the Taliscope uses the language of numbers , a pure language, universal and stable over time and space. The language of numbers is a language without blemish, in a divine perfection, which gives back to the complex all its logic simplicity, in a harmonious symphony. Some authors have often praise the wonderful and magical world of numbers. Thus, Pythagoras (c. 570 - c. 490 BC.), Greek philosopher and mathematician, said "The numbers govern the world" and also "Everything is number." Considering that the universe is governed by numbers, Pythagoras has established the foundations of modern numerology. In the seventeenth century, Galileo said: "God is a mathematician", because all from him has always a logic. In 1932, Kurt Gödel, published his theorem, which says that any theory based on numbers contains proposals say "indéciclables", ie surely true, but none provable. However, "The days are perhaps equal to a clock, but not for a human." (Marcel Proust).

ARTICLE SUMMARY/DESCRIPTION:

The explosive growth of business process outsourcing (BPO) has plugged the economy of the Philippines into the global services industry, raising high new hopes about the country's economic prospects. Though foreign companies enjoy cheap labor in the Philippines, Filipinos also enjoy their salaries in the BPO sector compared to lower pay in other Filipino-owned companies.

ARTICLE BODY:

Never before has Philippine labor had such negotiating power. Call center recruits are now being offered signing bonuses before they start work. Employees are given bonuses for finding new recruits - more often than not poached from other call centers.

The explosive growth of business process outsourcing (BPO) has plugged the economy of the Philippines into the global services industry, raising high new hopes about the country's economic prospects. Just 10 years ago, economic analysts and pundits concurred that the future of the predominantly agrarian economy lay in exporting fruit, seafood, garments, low-end electronics, and people – due primarily to cheap labor in the Philippines.

Nowadays, Filipino workers are increasingly doing the information technology enabled services (ITES) once held by middle-income-earning Americans, landing jobs in everything from accounting, payroll processing, credit-card administration, revenue management, database management, supply-chain management, and business intelligence to long-distance warehouse and inventory management.

In the first four months of this year, about 14 more companies are coming in, two of them call centers, and the rest back-office processing. That's a good sign because clients don't really need very, very good English speakers, but rather individuals with technical backgrounds and good written English, which the Philippines has an adequate supply of.

That is exactly how big multinational companies view the situation, particularly as other global English-speaking countries vie for a share of outsourcing contracts. As the Philippines reaches ever-deeper into its pool of semi-skilled labor - hype or no hype - the viability of its fastest-growing industry is still very much optimistic.

Graduates and even undergraduates who pass the preliminary exams undergo a six-day English skills training and product training for three weeks. After which the agent trainee will be placed on the floor to attend to mock calls for assessment. Agents are supposed to be able to type at least 25 words per minute.

Though foreign companies enjoy cheap labor in the Philippines, Filipinos also enjoy their salaries in the BPO sector compared to lower pay in other Filipino-owned companies. The basic pay for call center agents ranges from P11,000 (US$200.98 at US$1=PhP54.73) to P13,000 a month. In ICT Philippines, a call center that operates in the Philippines, agents enjoy a monthly P2,500 food and transportation allowance and a performance appraisal bonus amounting to P4,000. Often, they are also offered spiffs like appliances, cellular phone loads and gift checks to boost the sales per hour capacity of the employees. For example, whoever first gets five sales per hour for the night wins a prize. And an agent who hits the target quota sales gets an additional P11,500 commission plus a 30-50 percent night differential. All in all, a well-performing agent gets a gross monthly income of more than P31,000. This, as opposed to the P8,000 entry level salary generally offered in other sectors.

Offshoring, Inc, the leading American owned and operated offshore outsourcing company based in the Philippines, attests to the aforementioned studies regarding the phenomenon of business process outsourcing. Formed in 2004 by a group of American IT executives with extensive outsourcing and offshoring experience, the company is proud to have a long record of successful collaborations that have brought tremendous benefits to businesses worldwide.

The call center industry is tagged as the sunshine industry by the government because of its massive expansion, thus generating thousands of employment. It is the fastest growing sector within the IT software and services industry. It is not only sprouting in Metro Manila, but in other metropolitan areas as well like Cebu, Bangui, Davao and Pampanga. With an unemployment rate at 13 percent, the highest in Southeast Asia, the call center industry is perceived as a rare bright spot in the country sailing economy.

Thus, the Arroyo government is putting high hopes in the ICT-enabled services sector for the development of the economy. To realize its goal of placing the Philippines in the call center map of the world, the government has designated more than 96 special economic zones that offer tax breaks and other incentives to foreign investors and is improving the telecommunications and other basic infrastructure. Who would've thought that cheap labor in the Philippines could help improve the country's economy when the outsourcing industry itself is cultivated?

See the Best of Brisbane on Full Day Tour

Brisbane has so much to see and do, that the tourist could be forgiven for feeling just a little confused. You want to see the best sights without missing out on anything else of interest, but where do you begin? A great starting point would be to take a full day tour that has a little of everything. You can take a coach tour around Brisbane to see the sight, then go on a cruise and also see some good views and native Australian wildlife too.

The great tour does just that, encompassing all the best sights of Brisbane such as the oldest home, Newstead House where you will get the opportunity to stroll around the grounds and see the river. But prominent buildings such as City Hall, St John's Cathedral and Parliament House are not forgotten either and they are all on the itinerary.

So what comes first? A coach tour through the city centre then morning tea at Breakfast Creek Hotel beside the Brisbane River. Afterwards you get to explore the grounds of Newstead House. Just imagine what it must have been like to live there all those years ago. Not so many building around then, but lots of bushes and trees.

From there you will board a river boat for the cruise section of the tour. Travelling up the river will give you a good idea why Brisbane is called the River City. You will see all the most prestigious homes, the sandstone buildings of Custom House and many more historic buildings. Your river boat will take you under the beautiful Story Bridge that spans the river and you'll be able to see Kangaroo Point Cliffs before disembarking on the South Bank to sample all it has to offer. South bank is known as Mecca of Coffee shops where you can enjoy coffee flavours of all parts of the world. From there you could go to Brisbane Botanic Gardens which is adjacent to South Bank and entirely free for visitors. You can easily relax there and see some rare species of plants in the gardens. And that's just in the morning!

The afternoon will bring even more delights with a visit to one of Australia's biggest koala sanctuaries, Lone Pine. You will actually be able to cuddle a koala as these little creatures seem to be tame even out in the wild. Other Australian natives are there to see too; wombats, wallabies, kangaroos and more. You can also feed free roaming kangaroos here with your hands.

On the way home you will be taken to one of Brisbane's most famous lookouts at Mt Coot-tha, for views that encompass whole tracts of land including the Great Dividing Range through to Moreton Bay and other islands This mountain is 287 meters above the sea level an is 6 km in the west of Brisbane. What a day! And you can be picked up and dropped off from many centrally located hotels, so finding your own way about will be no problem.

The Beauty of Mt Tamborine

While everyone loves to enjoy the coastline, beaches and the surf of the Gold Coast, hidden away towards the back is the most beautiful place of hidden rainforests, birds and native animals. This is Mount Tamborine – the plateau is really not hidden because it rises to a spectacular height from the surrounding landscape, allowing those who take the time to visit to enjoy the most magnificent views.

Some of the views include the tall buildings of Southport in the distance and seemingly surrounded by bush. Others are mountain views of gorges and rock faces.

It is not all bush; many lucky people call Mt Tamborine home. Some of the industries there include grape-growing, wine-making, growing native flowers and fruit such as the avocado. The gallery walk includes many galleries and gift shops where talented artists have all kinds of work on show.

Eateries abound and vie between the elegant and the rustic, with alfresco meals and take-aways some of the most popular. You can have a romantic interlude in a cosy tearoom, or enjoy morning tea by a thundering waterfall. The birdlife is stunning, with many colourful parrots often happy to eat treats from your hand. The brilliant reds, blues and greens of king parrots, crimson rosellas and rainbow lorikeets has to be seen to be believed.

Years ago commercial flower growing was a viable industry and there are still many beautiful flowers such as proteas, orchids, strelitzias and lilies to see in local gardens. There is so much to see and do on Mount Tamborine that you will be sorry to leave after just one day. Entertainment includes such novelties as whip-cracking and boomerang throwing.

But then there is O'Reilly's Plateau at Lamington National Park with its sweeping vistas and fantastic waterfalls. Then there is the boardwalk through treetops, so you can get glimpses of birds in their natural homes – the treetops, as well as more wonderful views. You could even see a kangaroo or wallaby as the day closes to an end. They often come out at dusk to start feeding and are so used to tourists that they hardly bother to hop away.

The terrain up to these two beautiful scenic wonders is very steep. But when you take a guided tour you can go in a 4WD vehicle, so that is no problem. Some of these 4WD tracks are pretty awesome, but the drivers are experienced, so there is no need to worry.

A Tour with a Difference – Australian Outback Spectacular

This is a fantastic tour with a difference. Instead of going for a day – or two days – the time is a relatively short one of around 90 minutes. But this is more than made up for with a wonderful live show performed by some of the top stunt riders in Australia. So what is it all about? These riders act out the story of the amazing Light Horse heroes. You will be astonished at the feats performed on horseback and off with these well-trained animals.

But the show is not all you get. A three-course meal is included and you will be
served an array of mouth-watering Aussie meals, including BBQ steaks, salad and damper, a form of Aussie bush bread. Drinks are included in the price and you can choose between beer, wine, soft drinks or tea. Additional alcoholic beverages may be purchased on the night. And how about this? You will also be given a real stockmen's bush hat for free. These hats would be quite pricey to buy elsewhere. And now you'll have a great hat to stop you from getting sunburned on your other tours.

Dessert is Pavlova with cream and Queensland berries. Children may choose to have sausages rather than steak and a variety of vegetables. If you are a vegetarian, need gluten free food or are a diabetic, no problems; you will be catered for as well. But you must advise about your needs when you book. If you are in a wheelchair, that is not a problem either so long as you inform ahead of time. Those under three years of age are not given seating or dinner.

This evening of fun and entertainment is found of the Gold Coast, only 20 minutes from the heart of Surfer's Paradise. You can be picked up from specific Gold Coast venues or make your own way there for a slightly cheaper rate. The show is located from the Pacific Motorway and the doors open at 6.15pm. If you choose the pick-up option you will save the traffic/parking hassle and be told your departure date when the booking is confirmed.

So for an exhilarating night that is different from most others, try out this uniquely Australian dinner and show. You'll be glad you did as it will introduce you to the sights and sounds of the legendary outback of Australia like no other show can.
