In de noordelijke Europese landen zoals Finland en Zweden bevinden zich nog steeds interessante depots en museabedrijven waar de stoomlocs in de actieve dienst kunnen worden waargenomen. Niek, die een gepassioneerd stoomliefhebber is, laat onder andere opnames zien van de dagelijkse dienst in 1962. Ook aan bod komt een interessante smalspoorlijn in Uppsala, de Lennekatten. We gaan ook nog even naar Australië waar we een tripple-race, drie parallel rijdende stoommachines, zullen beleven.

“Treinreis naar Moermansk en Nikel, deel 2.” We vervolgen de reis van Ernst van Gulden waarvan u op 21 januari 2009 het eerste deel gepresenteerd kreeg. Vanuit Kaliningrad gaan we via Wit-Rusland, de Baltische staten en de stad Sint Petersburg naar het “hoge noorden” van Rusland. Door Moermansk rijden we met de reguliere trein naar het noordelijkste station ter wereld: Nikel (genoemd naar het daar gewonnen nikkelerts). The 4th edition of Rail Technology Conferences will be held in Amstelveen on 24 and 25 April 2012. A reduced participation fee of €645* (24 or 25 April) and €890* (24 & 25 April) is applicable until 29 February 2012. Themes

Life Cycle Management (LCM) and High Frequency Operations (HFO) are the two central themes of Rail Technology Conferences 2012.

The first conference day (Tuesday 24 April) will be dedicated to LCM and will deal with the following subthemes:  benchmarking, technology and efficiency, interaction between infrastructure and rolling stock and contract models.

The second conference day (Wednesday 25 April) will deal with HFO and will highlight capacity management, (un)availability and reliability, ERTMS as eliminator of network interference and environmental issues.

Programme highlights

The European Railway Agency (ERA) will share publically for the first time issues and findings of their benchmarking analyses on railways in the European Member States.

Having trouble analyzing your Life Cycle Costs?
Professor Veit and his colleagues from the Graz University of Technology will discuss dynamic models for calculating Life Cycle Costs and give us the Life Cycle Management state of the art at the Austrian Federal Railways.

Andrew McNaughton, Chief Engineer of High Speed Two Ltd, and Special Professor of Rail Engineering at Nottingham University will share his view on the environmental issues associated with high frequent train operations and what can be done to mitigate the side effects.

800 reizigers twee uur lang geblokkeerd door treinpanne

Op de spoorlijn Dendermonde-Brussel is vanmorgen rond 8 uur een trein stilgevallen tussen Opwijk en Asse. Ongeveer achthonderd reizigers zaten twee uur vast, zo meldt spoorinfrastructuurbeheerder Infrabel. Op de lijn moet rekening gehouden worden met vertragingen tot 45 minuten.
De trein viel stil rond 7.50 uur door een technisch defect. De treinbestuurder kreeg hem niet opnieuw aan de praat, aldus Infrabelwoordvoerder Frédéric Petit.

Evacuatie
Het grootste deel van de reizigers kon na twee uur overstappen op een andere trein op het tweede spoor. De laatste honderd werden wat later door een hulptrein weggesleept.

Door de problemen was een spoor lange tijd geblokkeerd op de spoorlijn tussen Dendermonde en Brussel. Dat leidde tot de nodige problemen: vijf treinen werden afgeschaft en de vertragingen liepen op tot 30 à 45 minuten.

Vertragingen
De woordvoerder verwacht dat het tweede spoor rond 11 uur opnieuw vrijgegeven wordt, maar de gevolgvertragingen zullen tot in de vroege namiddag voelbaar blijven. (belga/adha)

Technische defecten zijn zaken van overmacht. Niets aan te doen. En, ga maar aanschuiven in de file als jullie dat liever doen. Ik doe alles met trein, fiets, te voet en soms bus. Ik heb geen auto maar ik klaag dan ook niet over vertragingen, die er op mijn lijn Kapellen -BC al ruim een maand niet meer zijn. . Vroeger wel, maar ik neem dikke boeken mee , i don't give a damn. Moet niks betalen voor de trein, werkgever betaalt abonnement ,volledig.Altijd ruimte voor social talk op de trein.

Infrabel stelt dit incident een beetje te rooskleurig voor! Velen hebben samen met mij meer dan 2 uur staan wachten in het station en dan nog geraakten we niet op onze bestemming. Pendelaars werden gewoon teruggestuurd naar huis. De stationschef had geen informatie en kon ons zelfs niet helpen. Er loopt mis bij Infrabel en de NMBS. De laatste weken is het elke dag wel iets. Afgeschafte treinen, vertragingen, ... Via site nmbs kan je proberen compensatie aan te vragen, zeker doen!

De Blauwe Tram. Vanavond krijgt u NZH-beelden van oude films op DVD te zien bij afdeling ’t Gooi. De NZH heeft een aparte plaats in het hart van menig tramliefhebber. Ook vroegere gebruikers spreken er nog vaak lovend over. Omdat er relatief veel materiaal is dat niet iedereen (meer) kent, zal dit een weerzien worden met bekende en onbekende beelden. Peter van de Kerk en Karel Hoorn maken voor u een selectie uit andermans veren.

Hier gaat loc 2404 aan de haal met een defecte hondekop. Oktober 1977.
Ongeveer dezelfde locatie als de Spurt treinstellen van Arriva in 2012.

Dat heeft een woordvoerder van de NS desgevraagd meegedeeld. Ter plekke vindt onderzoek plaats. De NS sluiten niet uit dat de staaf moedwillig op het spoor is gelegd. De NS-zegsman spreekt berichten tegen dat er een aanrijding zou hebben plaatsgevonden op het spoor. Er zijn bussen besteld om reizigers tussen Roosendaal en Essen te vervoeren.
