BOOK NEWS

British Locomotive Catalogue 1825-1923 Volume 6:
GER, NBR, GNoSR, M&GNJR and Minor Lines
Compiled by Bertram Baxter
Edited by David Baxter and Peter Mitchell

Throughout the history of public railways in Britain there have been over
370 locomotive-owning railway companies, and the volumes in this series have
recorded the known data of every locomotive built for them from 1825 to the
1923 'grouping'. Volumes 1 to 5 were published by the Moorland Publishing
Company between 1977 and 1988, but the three final volumes (which would have
completed the LNER group and added the GWR and SR constituents) were never
published.

The late Bertram Baxter's magnum opus commenced with a general summary in
Volume 1, and ended
(prematurely) with Volume 5b, which covered the GNR and GCR. Much of the
work for the remaining LNER companies (Volume 6) had been done, but his son
David, who had painstakingly marshalled his father's data into the original
volumes, died before seeing it published. He had been assisted by Peter
Mitchell, and he has now completed the work needed to bring the final volume
of this important survey of pre-grouping locomotives to fruition - albeit
nearly
25 years after the last volume was published.

Details of every known locomotive are included for the following companies
and their
constituents:
- Great Eastern Railway
- North British Railway
- Great North of Scotland Railway
- Midland and Great Northern Joint Railway
- Colne Valley and Halstead Railway
- East and West Yorkshire Union Railway
- Mid-Suffolk Railway

For each company, there is a brief history and a comprehensive bibliography,
which includes books and magazine articles. The book is uniform with the
original volumes.

Donderdag 15 maart 2012: Railtheater Amsterdam

Slootermeerschool, Burgemeester Fockstraat 85, Amsterdam-Slotermeer. Zaal open 19.40 uur, aanvang 20.00 uur, toegang € 4,00. www.tramshop.amsterdamsetram.nl/rta.html

Donderdag 15 maart 2012: dialezing 'De Blauwe Tram' in Voorschoten

Woensdag 21 maart 2012: NVBS-bijeenkomst in Enschede

http://forum.beneluxspoor.net/index.php/topic,40623.0.html

Adres: Zilverenberg 38
5234 GM 's-Hertogenbosch
http://www.msgdenbosch.com

1. Digitaal beginnen en/of gevorderden/besturing van de modelbaan met behulp van de computer;
2. Wheateren, alternatieve (goedkope) methode;
3. Landschapsbouw/begrassen (vliegenmepper);
4. Nederlandse bovenleidingportalen bouwen;
5. Zelf gebouwen bouwen uit styreen;
6. Zelf een locje (ver)bouwen met styreen;
7. Messing modellen solderen.

10.00 - 10.30 uur: Ontvangst;
10.30 - 12.30 uur: Eerste workshop sessie;
12.30 - 14.00 uur: Lunchpauze;
14.40 - 16.00 uur: Tweede workshop sessie;
16.00 - 17.00 uur: Napraten en afsluiting.

De kosten
Toegang : € 4,50 p.p.
Lunch: € 6,75 p.p.

De lunch bestaat uit:

Een kop soep
Broodje ham
Broodje kaas
Krentenbol
Koffie of thee

Over verdwenen spoorlijntjes gesproken.
Wij zeiden trouwens Tuffetje ipv Sik.
