AsSalamuAlaikum, everyone!
So, how do you find your "you"? You may dress a lot like other
people in your area or from your background. You may eat the same
foods as the group of people that you identify with. Perhaps
everyone says you look a lot like one of your parents, who looks a
lot like one of her parents. You know that you're different, but
how do you pinpoint exactly what it is that keeps people from mixing
up your name with someone else's?
From here on, you are no longer allowed to think only of yourself.
Success is merely a reflection of the blessings Allah has given you,
and then the support, trust, and selflessness of others. You may
consider yourself a success, but such delusions must be backed up
pretty soon by some tangible evidence in the form of other people.
Otherwise, you are doing the same thing as a person who styles
himself as a leader without ever looking around to see if he has any
followers.
Focus now on Allah. Show Him the gratitude, the affection and the
obedience that He deserves for being who He is, as your Creator.
Your success depends on His Will and Mercy.
Then focus on all your significant "others": the people who care
about you. Care about them back. Give them a reason to believe in
you every time you smile at them, and already you have begun to
sparkle. They are constantly dropping small hints that explain why
they love you. Take note of their hints, and you will notice that
those small things are the parts of you that no one else can
duplicate or replace. Those are the parts of you that will succeed,
inshaAllah.
Wishing you success,
Shakirah Dawud
