I am a new member to the Markair group, my association with this group is; I grew up in Alaska and I loved Markair, my dad was Station manager in barrow and Anchorage and so I had it in my House. And I just loved it! So i wanted to joining this group for more info and on behalf of my dad.
I have a few shares in this plan and I wondered if anyone could give me any
information as to who to contact in order that I could out if it is worth
following up on this or not. Any information would be most welcome. Thanks
Just located this site, my name is Derek Roe and I worked for Interior Airways,
Alaska International and finally markair. My final position with the company was
Director of Maintenance.Nice to see names I remember from the past. Terry will
be reading your book soon. Regards to all.
worked for MarkAir from 84' to 89'. Many great memories, fun to see some names
I recognize. I worked in the communications dept. under Dick Setty until his
passing. Will there be more reunions?? Seen pictures of my old freind Scotty
Norman, he hasn't changed a bit..ha!

Hi All ....
Marie and I were just talking about our old contracting days and (as
usual) MarkAir came up. Hands down this was our favorite maintenance
contract. Although short, we remember it being the best mainly for
the people we met. No where else during our contracting days were we
met with the open arms and warmth extended by ALL of the MarkAir
employees there in Fairbanks. BTW, we were there in Feb-Mar 1992 to
help out with new 737-400's and an old Herc (123?). Wish we could
have stayed longer.
Anyhow, my question is to you all - does anyone here know Bill Wilson?
He worked as head of the paint department. We got to know him very
well and in the end, he was kind enough to buy the car we bought for
our time there. He and Diane are great people and we would like to
maybe just say HI again after all these years :)

Hi everyone! It was so fun to stumble onto this site. I went to United after
Markair went
under, had a wonderful experience working for them, but I have to say my
memories are
much more fond of all the flying and the people from Markair. I still tell
stories to from my
time there.
I have 4 children now, so finally have grounded myself and am getting my
master's in
counseling, after flying for 13 years I feel I have had a pretty good background
for that
degree.
Fond memories of all of you

My husband used to work at Markair in Fairbanks and Seattle in the
parts department. His name is Dave Grill. I saw this site and thought
I should join so I can tell Dave about the site and show him where it
was. Anyways I just wanted to say hi and see if anyone remembers my
husband..
Brian--I think i remember you, but refresh my memory...I remember 2 girls. I am having a senior moment right now and one of the girls lived out in the valley by me, and the other one was kinda young and short. i worked in scheduling(across the window) with jeannie mcgee and dave anderson and the red head (caroline)and ron donathon and a few others. started in march of 1992 and was with them until about a month before their demise...Went to denver with them and then back to anchorage and then decieded enough was enough and left them about 1 month before they closed the doors.

Worked there from about 1990-1993 and for some reason the ramp guys and gate agents took to calling me "Ops Man" on the radio! Ring any bells?
Working at MarkAir was one of the better times in my life, full of great adventure and good people. I still miss taking that early a.m. flight to Kodiak with Roger Kunz and then hopping a Caravan to Karluk to slay those fresh kings in late May (thanks for the tip Kris Paul!).
Speaking of Kris, anyone know where he is, or for that matter, Mike Maroney, Harry Lacy, Wayne
Kosher, etc? How about the flight attendents...Bridgette, Darcy, Avis Meyer, etc?
Hope this finds you all well and that a few of you remember us nameless, faceless guys stuck in that little room. And just for old times... "MarkAir Flt. 21, this is Ops Man and I have your changes."

o.k. I WAS AT VISCOUNT TOO WHEN THEY WENT UNDER.... Then i went to champion air in LAX until they moved to SLC..Sorry i still swear and drink too much for them. Then i went to midway in N.C. until they went under and then i went to A.T.I. and was hub supervisor in Toledo Ohio for 6 years and then i went to Spirirt Air about 2 years ago. I live 6 miles west of the Fort Lauderdale airport and love it here. A little hot, but close to the beach and besides that..that is what a/c is for. It has been a roller coaster since markair went under, but have stayed employed doing what i do best...Telling pilots where to go..LOL
I will e-mail Amy Loglien and maybe she knows where michelle went. I know she stays in contact with alot of the girls.
I will get back with you later....my home e-mail is cdbowdish@... if you want to e-mail there

Hi Brandie, In reference to your father, John, Ray Salak and I worked with him
in
Yellowknife NWT. We were hauling research camp out of Cape Allison not too far
from the
North Pole. Ofcourse, John was the life of the party in town. Always very lively
and
instegating some kind of shenanigans. I was scheduled to go to Australia with
his project
as well, but it was later cancelled. Back home in Fairbanks, he always came down
and
played volleyball with Fred Coleman, a bunch of the others and I... we enjoyed
all the
games. And by the way, I think Terry Reece was with us in Yellowknife for some
of that
trip. On our departure, is when Ray experienced his first mild heart attack
(unknown to
him). Other than that, we had a great time. I was just a mechanic/inspector at
the time.
Was later promoted to the Director of Maintenance.

Brandie,
Hi, my name is Terry Reece and yes I remember your dad
and you! We were in Australia helping to set up Cargo
Masters. You Dad and I worked together in Alaska also.
We had a good time setting up Cargo Masters, and you
Dad was in charge of the company for AIA in Austrilia.
John and I became friends in Alaska when he went to
work for Alaska International. I want to tell you what
a fun guy he was, and how much I enjoyed working with
him, because he had such a great sense of humor....I
can still picture his crazy grin. He was a hard
charger and he had a work ethic that was not to be
exceeded by anyone. I hope you and your Mom are doing
fine...
Best Regards,
Captain Terry Reece

i think that the fact that markair and the experience
of working there is fondly recalled by former
employess means something to our family, for what its
worth. thanks for the message to brian, i will pass it
