Minutes for November, December Agenda


The meeting was called to order and the November minutes was
reviewed, and accepted.



The agenda for this month:

1. Meeting Attendance

2. Election of Officers

3. African American History Month Program



1. Suggestion for meeting attendence:

a. Meet with your head nurse ahead of time. place your meeting time
on the schedule. Remember the time and make an effort to be at each
meeting. Come to participate

b. Set up a display in the Atrium with information about the forum
to add new members.

c. Dr. Jackson suggested a social mixer that his department would
sponsor for minority nurses to come network and find out about the
organization.

d. Get a list of all the minority nurses from the HR department.
Send out letters to all and invite them to join the group and give
information of the organizations goals.



If you are having difficulty with time for meetings please inform me.
The leadership group supports our group, and want to know why we are
not geting the necessary time for the meetings. The departments are
to get you off for your meetings.

This is a new time and we have to support the Forum if we want it to
an active force at UH. Put the past behind this is a new era, please
lets be a part of it.

We have been approached by Dr. Jackson and other in leadership
positions to speak to our group. I have not accepted due to the low
attendance. If we don't support the group how can we expect anyone
else to take us seriously.

I reconize that we have come though some very difficult times and
trust is very low, but if we don't move ahead we will never get ahead.



REMEMBER:

IF YOU THINK YOU ARE BEATEN, YOU ARE. IF YOU THINK YOU CARE NOT, YOU
DON'T. IF YOU LIKE TO WIN BUT THINK YOU CAN'T, IT'S ALMOST CERTAIN
YOU WANT.

NO ONE CAN DEFEAT YOU BUT YOURSELF. WE CAN BE A TOWER OF STRENGTH,
ITS ALL UP TO US.

AND NOW WE HAVE HELP, REAL HELP.



Linda Young and I had a meeting with Ms. Koppleman and she is also
backing our organization. This is our day people, lets not blow
it.



2. Suggestion election of Officers:

At the December meeting we will elect officers.

The election of officers will spread the responsibilities. No one
person will have the entire load. Many hands make the load light. If
each one has one thing to do we will have a upward mobile
organization.

The positions to be anounced at the December meeting. The first to be
filled will be the co-chair, and sect.



3. African American History Month:

February is fast closing on us. We need to get togather as to what
our program will be for this year. The program was very successful
last year. If you have ideas of speakers and any other activities for
the month come prepared to discuss them.



December will be a continuation of November's meeting. Attendence,
Elections and Programs. Please be there.

If you have any Minority Nurses in your area, on your division,
friend, please let them know the time and date of the meeting.
