RE: [MNF] Update on activities

Barby,

I had a set time for the diversity programs being the fourth Monday of the month. You had the third Monday and that is what is in your MNF mission statement for meeting time. We don’t want to have a conflict because HNM’s may not have the ability to have staff off the floor if they come to diversity and is not their lunch hour then return at 3 p.m. for the MNF meeting.

Linda

Subject: [MNF] Update on activities

This is a brief update for the group.
We stated earlier that we had applied to become part of the nursing
coordinating council. We have an appointment on the Aug. meeting.
Ms.Koppleman is a supporter of the forum and this is very encourging.
The hospital senior management is also expanding the minority
participation in the hospital and the entire system. This is no
longer
wowords but definite action. This is one of the things Dr. jackson
will
highlight in his talk at the conference.

The dinner conference to invite all the minority nurses to will take
place at the end of Aug.hopefully.Dr. Jackson and C. Koppleman will
be
our speakers. We hope to introduce ourselves to the new ones and
reintroduce ourselves to the older group.
This has been a long journey and it look as if we are finally going
to
get the reconition we deserve.
We are also pardnering with the Cleveland Council of Black Nurses to
put on conferences with them and to help with education in the
communitiy. We also will be active with Dr. Harwell at the Otis Moss
Jr.Center.
Other Minority communities we will increase our activities in. We
will
be seeking out minority speakers from the different minority
communities for conferences.
If you have any ideas for the forum please join us at our meetings.
We
meet the fourth Monday of the month in the RB&C community room.
I will be giving a conference on the Jehovah's Witness population of
patients Monday the 28 th oh July from 12:00 to 1:00 PM. lunch will
be
served. Please make arrangements to come.

Barby Smith
