MKT Modelers,
I just received 7 decal HO Decal sets of the MKT GP-40 L190 in green
and yellow yesterday. They are brand new sets, not old stock, and I was
told by the owner of Midwest Trains in Bettendorf, IA, Rick, that he
would like to release the Herald King decal line in N and O Scale as
well. Since we are looking at another winter storm in the KC area this
weekend, I will be applying some of these decals this weekend so I will
give a status on the quality if there is any interest.

Sincerely,

Dave Weber

I'd like to have the facility available for people to come by and look sun of
the KRHS convention.
I'll also need some one to help with the registration table on Thur. I'll need
a few car hosts for the train trip.
I need someone to follow up with Rodney Roof about a vendor/caterer for box
lunches.
I'll need people to help vendors set up and keep an eye on the swap meet
room.

Also, Drake, I need a link for Thomas Tickets, I haven't been able to find
one.

I managed to Shanhai myself as the convention chair for the 07 Katy convention
since it was a south rotation and it seemed good to go with the state's
centennial.
Some ideas I'm throwing around are the usual attractions: the tour and ride
Oklahoma Rwy Museum (the only Katy track you can count on riding in the state),
tour of the GM and A-OK facilities (pending their permission), a tour of Union
Station (maybe they will let us have the banquet there?), and possibly a trip or
trips to ride Farmrail or one of the state's shortlines that would be willing to
host us, maybe a trip to the museums in Enid, Cushing, or Muskogee.

Also, I'm trying to organize some clinics, both on the prototype and models,
plus a roundtable discussion with some of the former employees.

But, I can't do it alone. If anyone would like to participate in any of these
events or help with the organization, I would be very gratefull and more
imporantly, it would ensure a great convention.
Let me know if you want to get involved.
Terry

Greetings Katy fans!

I went to the World's Greatest Hobby show in Ft. Worth this weekend.

GOOD NEWS- I talked to Broadway Limited and he said that if there
was interest in them, they would be OPEN to the idea of a run of MKT
Green & Yellow SD 40-2's. E-mail them @ info@... to
let them know you ARE interested. Coming out with a new paint scheme
isn't costly compared to a new $100,000-$150,000 for a new tooling
for a locomotive. So, if you want a great locomotive with sound, let
them know.

BAD NEWS- Precision Craft Models MKT switcher model is ON HOLD per
PCM until enough orders have been recieved to break even (see above)
for the new tooling for the switcher. So, we WON'T see EMD SW1500,
MKT 50 & 55 until we all order up with our dealers. Once you place
your order, let them know @ info@...

Good & Bad, that's the news from BL and PCM.
Let's see what we can get done!

SF2024 is either GP7 or 9 not CF7. Plated over DB and frame line is the

Most green-and-yellow units had yellow handrails at
all four step areas, with the yellow paint ending at
the first stanchion. The rails were otherwise painted
black. One exception was the #308, a GP38, whose
handrails and frame were painted green. Most of the
others had the frame and the rails painted black. Some
units had the striping across the cab roof and the top
of the nose; most of these roofs and nose tops were
painted solid green later on... the IDEAL source for
specific KATY units with striped roofs and noses is
the one-and-only "Mr. Diesel", John Merman... Pete

In the Nov. 2005 issue of Railmodel Journal is an article on Pullman Standard
PS-2 2,893 Cu. Ft. covered hoppers. There are two pictures, MKT 6 and MKT 3,
from the series 1-15. I bought a Walthers 2,893 Cu.Ft, PS-2 . I replaced the
handrails, grabs with wire and painted it black, but cannot find any decals that
would work. Does anyone have any more information on these cars? I did find a
picture of 9010(?) on the freight car list. If someone has decent pictures or
some kind of diagram, maybe we can get Tom Stolte to do a decal set.
If not that, can anyone suggest a decal set or parts of sets I can use to decal
this car?
Thank you,

Howdy Ya'll !
While observing the mandatory Thanksgiving Deer Lease get-away
with the family, we ran into Miss Katy twice over the 4 days!
Thanksgiving Day MKT 505 behing UP 7543 in Taylor SB
Sunday afternoon MKT 551 and MKT 568 SB from Thrall, ducking in the
siding. All three are still in good ole' Green & Yellow !

Did the heart some good to see the old gal in the right colors still!
And I did manage to put a 8 pointer in the cooler too!

Long Live Miss Katy!

All cars look real nice! I also did a front hopper in MKT grey, although my
decals came from my printer.

I posted some photos of my hoppers I have painted in the photo section
under the models. Let me know what you guys think! I still have to
weather a couple. I wanted to have a few shots to send to Tom at
oddballs before I beat em' up.

Check out the airslide. I found some photos of them online. The data
isn't exact, but you get the idea.

Joe,

I would swear they were factory done but knowing these models are not
done by any company out there all I can say is WOWWWWWW!!!!!!!!

Keep up the great work wish I could do that good in N-scale.
