Report on e-Invoicing

Abstract:
The European Commission has published today the report of expert group on
e-Invoicing. The group was mandated to design a European e-Invoicing framework,
to contribute to the uptake of open and interoperable electronic invoicing
solutions within the EU. Particular emphasis was put on the needs of Small and
Medium Enterprises (SMEs). The report, which does not necessarily represent the
views of the Commission, will be open for consultation until 26 February 2010.

Title:
EU 2020 consultation: a new strategy to make the EU a smarter, greener social
market

Abstract:
The Commission today issued a public consultation document on giving the EU
economy a brighter future through the EU 2020 Strategy. EU 2020 aims to deliver
greener and socially inclusive growth, as outlined by President Barroso in his
Political Guidelines. The consultation paper sets out a vision for how EU 2020
will focus on entrenching recovery from the crisis, and helping to prevent a
similar one in future.

Title:
New Cosmetics Regulation adopted

Abstract:
With the new Cosmetics Regulation, Europe is having a robust, internationally
recognised regime, which reinforce product safety taking into consideration the
latest technological developments, including the possible use of nanomaterials.
Most of the provisions of this new regulation will be applicable in 3 years and
half. The ban and the strict regime aiming at phasing out animal testing was not
modified.

Title:
Less administrative burden for business

Abstract:
The European Union has set itself the ambitious target of reducing the
administrative burden on businesses by a quarter by 2012, while preserving the
effectiveness of European legislation in achieving its goals, such as protecting
the public and ensuring fair competition. A new progress report published by the
European Commission shows that the Union is well on track to meet these
objectives.

Title:
Single dose: More people to benefit from pandemic influenza vaccinations

Abstract:
Up to now, a two-dose vaccination schedule is always required for the three
centrally authorised pandemic H1N1v influenza vaccines Focetria®, Pandemrix®
and Celvapan®. With vaccination campaigns ongoing in the European Union, about
5 million people have been vaccinated so far. Following the positive scientific
opinion issued by the Committee for Medicinal Products for Human Use (CHMP) at
the European Medicines Agency (EMEA) on 19th November, the European Commission
today authorised a single dose regime of the vaccines Focetria® and Pandemrix®
for: 1) adults aged between 18 and 60 years. 2) children and adolescents, from 9
years on, for Focetria®, and from 10 years on for Pandemrix®.
