NMPRSA January speaker to share award-winning marketing experiences and best practices
The NMPRSA Board of Directors warmly invites you to attend the NMPRSA January Luncheon with special guest speaker John Benavidez, Marketing Lecturer with the University of New Mexico, Anderson School of Management on Thursday, January 24.
EXPERIENCE SUBARU: MARKETING TO GENERATION Y As the 70 million consumers who make up Generation Y come of age, they present a number of challenges and opportunities for marketers. Learn how a class of senior marketing students at the University of New Mexico, armed with only a $3000 budget, developed and implemented a highly effective integrated marketing communications campaign for Subaru of America aimed at this cohort. Representatives from the class recently returned from Cherry Hill, New Jersey where they placed first in Project Acceleration: The Subaru Impreza Collegiate Challenge, beating a team from Drexel University in the finals.
The presentation will address the following questions: • How do marketers reach Generation Y? • What is peer-to-peer marketing and why is it important? • What are the advantages and disadvantages of including pronoun media in an organization's marketing communications mix? • What role did public relations play in the success of this campaign? • Why is quality marketing research critical to the success of any marketing communications campaign?
About the Speaker A lecturer at University of New Mexico, Anderson School of Management since 2003, Mr. Benavidez's focus has been in marketing management, promotion management, and direct marketing management. He currently teaches both undergraduate and graduate level courses, as well as a series of Certificate Program Sessions in target marketing and consumer behavior. Mr. Benavidez was awarded the UNM Outstanding Lecturer of the Year in 2004.
As President and founder of ABQ Direct Marketing, Inc., Mr. Benavidez is a provider of direct marketing communication consulting services. He manages overall company operations, secure new clients, build relationships with existing clients, and develops marketing strategies (segmentation, data mining, customer relationship management, message content, message timing) for client campaigns. Mr. Benavidez is a former general partner with Chili Bros., and has worked as a marketing analyst with Bueno Foods.
Mr. Benavidez received his B.B.A. from the University of New Mexico, Anderson Schools of Management with a concentration in marketing management, and an M.B.A. from the University of New Mexico, Anderson Schools of Management with a concentration in marketing management and operations/management science.
