Description

This Yahoo! Group continues the tradition set by NorthWest Rails (NWR). We discuss in-depth railroad news, information, history, and photography in the Pacific Northwest and beyond.

In general we cover any railroad in Oregon, Washington, Idaho, Nevada, Northern California, and Alaska. Specific railroads discussed in the coverage area include Union Pacific, Burlington Northern Santa Fe, and Amtrak. However we are not limited to mainline railroads, NWR also discusses regionals and shortlines including Albany & Eastern, Central Oregon & Pacific, City of Prineville, Idaho Northern & Pacific, Lake County, Portland & Western, Port of Tillamook Bay, Willamette & Pacific, and Willamette Valley (OR); Camas Prairie Railnet, Columbia Basin, Columbia & Cowlitz, Montana RailLink, Palouse River & Coulee City, Puget Sound & Pacific, and Tacoma Rail (WA); McCloud Railway and Yreka Western (CA); Alaska Railroad (AK) and many more.

Note: As of December 2, 2005 "For Sale" or "Wanted" advertisements are allowed on Fridays only. These ads must be railroad-related in nature and include books, magazines, timetables, camera equipment, lanterns, furniture, etc. For specific rules, please visit the Files section of the group and look for a folder entitled "NWR Admin" with a text file called "NWR Classified Ad Guidelines". Any questions on what items are appropriate, please contact the moderator offline.

Also, please note, as of January 6, 2006, a new NWR Railroad & Railfan Online Resources database is available under the "Database" link. This is a resource for all NWR members. If you have a web site to add to the database, please contact the moderator offline.

As of December 23, 2011, Charles Bonville and Dan Sheets moderate the NWR Yahoo! Group.
