Ladies & Gentlemen,
I think we're going about this a little completely Rudolph Bass-ackwards.
We've been give clues but we do not use them.
Clue No. 1: The date was December of 1931.
(hearing the zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz of the reel and feeling the ever so
slight tug of the weight at the end of the line)
Clue No. 2: The machine was a new on the market scroll saw and as mentioned
was "the goods".
(a little more line is played out)
Clue No. 3: The price was $19.50.
(a nibble is felt)
The only scroll saw that I'm aware of that was new in December of 1931, sold
for $19.50 and was "the goods" would have been the Delta No. 700.
(the slightest of jerks is all that's needed to set the hook)
With that we only need to find out where Delta sold machines in New York
City in the 30's which would be;
Manhattan:
Morris Abrams, Inc.
Rudolph Bass
Nathan Eisenberg
A.W. Gerstner Co.
Hammacher Schlemmer
Murray Hill Hardware
Patterson Bros.
R & B Hardware Co.
Weil Bros.
Long Island:
James & Hawkins (9-stores/a regwar Home Depot of its day)
Otto Herman, Inc.
W.F. Sheehan Corp.
Empire State Hardware & Supply
Bronx:
Bronx Hardware & Supply
Brooklyn:
R.J. Atkinson
Keith Bohn, who says, it begins and ends with the machines because it's all
about the machines...
