The first offering from the CBOT will be under $40.00
and have a value of 260 billion dollars. Traders are already counting their
money. As always the staff will be given a few crumbs to keep them
happy. Best chance for late comers is to buy a small seat and get a few
free shares.
MORNINGSTAR TO OFFER
MINI-BLOOMBERGS?

Morningstar
- the struggling mutual fund and stock information data firm which is looking
to go public this year - may compete head-to-head against Bloomberg.
How will
Morningstar make money besides selling subscriptions? One way is to come up
with a mini-size Bloomberg machine. "There is market here for
Morningstar," noted a veteran S&P trader.
It is
almost impossible for the average consumer to obtain a Bloomberg terminal - and
nearly as difficult to learn how to operate one. Absent CEO, New York Mayor
Michael Bloomberg long ago made the decision that Bloomberg's information was
to sit on a proprietary terminal operated via proprietary commands. Bloomberg
even offers formal training to those who wish to operate its system.
Morningstar
is casting around for ways to up revenue, and the mix of the data on a
"Bloomberg" might be attractive to day-traders and professionals
alike who covet Bloomberg's info but are reluctant to pay the high prices and
figure out the complex screen technology.
"It's
definately being considered," says one source close to the firm.
Before
they go public, Morningstar must beef up customer service and public relations.
Customers complain it takes up to two weeks for somone to return a call.
