OSSD Meeting - Rescheduled for Nov 15   Message List
Reply | Forward Message #15 of 24 |

Hi,

I hope for a rapid recovery for those affected by the fires.  If there are things that we can do as an optics community to help those affected, feel free to make a suggestion.  As I spoke with Donn Silbermann of the OSSC, he and I thought of the following:

  1. If there are optics businesses that cannot operate with their facilities as they are rebuilding, perhaps there are local businesses with extra office space that they could accomodate a temporary arrangement.
  2. I hope that payments to affected businesses can be accelerated and invoices can be delayed.

Our meeting has been rescheduled for Thursday, Nov 15.  Same location, same time.  We need twenty (20) people to show or it will cost us extra.  Please make an effort to RSVP by Wednesday, Nov 14.

I am beginning to post files related to the meetings on the website.  These files vary from PDF's of articles, to presentation materials.  All materials are provided by the speakers.

I hope to see you at the meeting.

Brian

Hi,

We had great attendance at the Illumina meeting.  Thank you for coming and thanks to Illumina for speaking.

I have begun posting files on the Yahoo website for the OSSD.  These include any presentation materials the speakers authorize as well as any papers or other technical materials to supplement the talks.

The meeting was much quicker than previous meetings.  We started only 10 min late and ended much earlier than 9 PM.  The group held their questions until the end of the talk.  There were still plenty of questions and the speaker was allowed to make progress through their talk without interruption.  I hope this is an improvement.  Please provide feedback.  Those of you that have stayed away because the meetings drag on too late, please reconsider.

I am working with a Prof. at UCSD to give a talk in November.  The rest of the year is open.  I need your help suggesting speakers.  I would love to have some speaker(s) from SDSU, Cymer, Melles Griot (CVI).  If you know anyone in particular, please make a suggestion.

I hope to see you next Thursday.

Brian
