Hi,
General Atomics did a great job hosting the meeting last month.
I'm pleased that it was so well attended. Please provide me some
feedback as to how we can continue to have such a large number of
people enjoying the meetings. Was it the subject matter? The
location? The food? The cost?
This month's meeting will be a joint meeting with the Society
of Information Display (SID). We'll be meeting SID at a restaurant
in Mission Bay. RSVP's should be sent to SID. Dinner is ala carte.
Next month's meeting will be presented by JDSU at the Fish and
Richardson office. Mark your calendar's for April 19.
Finally, I want to encourage you to pass the word that this is my
LAST e-mail from my Caltech account. All future e-mails will be from
the Yahoo! Groups distribution list. You DO NOT need to sign up to
Yahoo to be on the distribution list. Merely send e-mail to:
opticalsocietyofsandiego-subscribe@yahoogroups.com
General members will NOT have access to your e-mail address. Only OSSD
Board Members can post messages to the people on the list and see the member list.

MEETING NOTICE-OPTICAL SOCIETY OF SAN DIEGO/SOCIETY OF INFORMATION DISPLAY
"Wide Color Gamut for TVs-Using Nano Scale Polymer based
Tunable Diffraction Gratings " by Manuel Aschwanden
Tuesday, March 20, Blue Pearl Restaurant at the Dana Inn
Dinner 6:00-7:30, Talk 7:30 - 8:30
Abstract
This presentation presents work on a high enhanced polymer tunable
diffraction grating with unusually high tuning period. Diffraction grating
based display technologies are of great interest to TV manufacturers
for their extraordinarily wide color gamut and speed to modulation.
Manuel Aschwanden is a PhD Student and has his MS in
Information Technology and Electrical Engineering from
Swiss Federal Institute of Technology Zurich, Switzerland
where he is a research assistant under Dr. Andreas Stemmer.
The nanotechnology program is detailed at
