5 Easy Landing Page Success Tips

Landing page is also known as a squeeze page or a lead capture
page, ie the page your visitor sees the first when they come
to your site.

You can build your mailing list by funneling all of your
would-be subscribers through the creation of a landing page.
The advantage is that you do the work just once, and your
traffic driving efforts can be focused onto just one effective
method.

The following are tips to create a successful landing page
that converts visitors into subscribers on a high percentage.

Success Tip 1: Offer a freebie in exchange for your
visitor's email address. I very much endorse this method of
building your mailing list. You can offer a special report
or a sample of your paid product to your visitor in exchange
for their details such as first name and email address.

Success Tip 2: The landing page must be written professionally.
When writing your page, treat it as if you are writing a sales
letter. While you are not necessarily trying to make a hard
sale or get someone to buy your product upfront, being able
to entice your visitors to give their details to you is just
as important as selling.

Success Tip 3: Other than your opt-in form and perhaps
important disclaimers and terms, there shouldn't be any
other links on your landing page.

Success Tip 4: Rub in the benefits of the freebie you are
offering more than a mere subscription to your newsletter.
You should focus most of the attention on encouraging your
prospective visitor to download your free offer. Later, you
gently remind your prospect that he or she has nothing to pay
but just merely subscribe to your newsletter in exchange
for the freebie.

Success Tip 5: You can add a little audio giving your
visitor more information and additional reason to subscribe.
BUT avoid a huge video. Your landing page should load fast.

A final reminder in conclusion: in order to build trust,
you can include your hand-written signature or a photo of
yourself explaining who you are and how you can help your
visitor through your free report on offer.

How to Have a Great Life

What does it really take to have a great life? Some say all
you need is a positive attitude. Some say you have to say
and think the correct way. While others say you have to
take the right actions consistently. But who's right? Let's
find out.

Let's look at a couple of different kinds of people to help
us understand. First, there are the "get up early" people.
These are people that always get up extra early, even on
their days off, because they always have too much to do.
They cut the grass every week, they wash their car every
week or two, and they always have a perfectly clean house
and yard. They have a to-do list a mile long and growing
while they are working on it at warp speed. They don't have
time to dream about what they really want out of life or to
do anything to help them grow as a person, because they
just don't seem to have time! No goals, no fulfillment,
just work all the time with only a little enjoyment one or
two weeks a year while they go sit on the beach and wonder
if it's time to rotate the tires on their car.

The up side is that they take care of their business. They
pay their bills on time and always seem to have a little to
save and just enough to get by.

The second group we need to look at are the sleep in people.
These are the ones that hate the alarm clock with a passion,
but view it as a necessary evil put here by the devil
himself to torment us. These are the dreamers. They don't
like to do anything but have a good time and are miserable
if they have to do any chores at all. They want more out of
life, but are too lazy to pursue it, because it takes away
from their "me" time. These people tend to get depressed
and unhappy with their life and circumstances very easily.
They leave things undone and are usually unorganized. This
group has more alcoholics than the "get up early" folks
because they are always looking for a way out of the
circumstances they are in, while the "get up early" guys
believe that their circumstance are the way life is
supposed to be.

Neither group is really happy, one just deals with it
better. They could both learn something from the other to
find the perfect balance between the dream and the pursuit.
In other words, if each group would learn the difference
between what must be done and what has to be done, they
could both be truly happy. Do you fit into one of these two
groups?

The first group needs to let some of the busy work go and
spend more time looking long-term. Figuring out what they
really want in life and setting goals to get there, then
redirecting some of their energy toward reaching those
goals and letting some of the things that don't really
matter go.

The second group needs to learn to take care of the
necessary things in life while allowing some time for the
pursuit of their dreams. When they start making progress
toward the life they really want, their motivation becomes
stronger and they become happier and better adjusted.

So to answer the question from the first paragraph; who's
right? The answer is they all are. Life just takes some
balance. The key is to know what needs to be done and what
has to be done and to be willing to do it. Balance your
life by setting goals for both long term accomplishments
and short term needs and take action! And enjoy your life!

Writing Web Copy That's Easy to Scan

It's easy to hold some romantic notion that someone's going
to brew up a mug of coffee, curl up with her laptop on the
couch, and browse your web site for a while. Trust me: that
never actually happens (except in commercials). If people are
visiting your site, they're there for a reason. As much care
and love as we might put into crafting captivating copy,
the honest truth is that most visitors won't actually read it.
In reality, they'll probably scan it for a second or two to see
if it's what they're looking for, and move on if it's not.

Create Visual Hierarchy

Creating a consistent visual hierarchy throughout your site
gives your readers visual cues to the importance of various
elements by using color, contrast, size, and relative placement.
Working with a graphic designer at this stage can be critical.
You can use style sheets to apply these rules consistently
throughout your site.

Make it Easy on the Eyes

Don't tire reader's eyes with small type, brash color combinations
and wide columns. Conventional print wisdom tells us to use
serif fonts for body copy and sans-serif for headlines, but
Web Marketing Today's user survey found that web readers tend
to prefer sans-serif fonts. Type vendors have made strides
over the last decade to optimize popular fonts for screen
readability, but remember this golden rule: you can specify
any font in your web pages, but people will only see the fonts
actually installed on their computers. For this reason, I
usually recommend commonly-installed fonts like Verdana or Arial.

Intro. Body. Conclusion. Repeat.

Remember back to fourth grade when you first learned to write
essays? I can hear the teacher now: "Intro, Body, Conclusion."
Dust off that phrase and hum it like a mantra while you're
writing your web copy. Start by creating outlines -- for each
page and every paragraph within that page. Intro - Body - Conclusion.
Summarize the page content within the first paragraph.
Now go back to each paragraph and summarize its content
in the first sentence.

Headlines can Build Interest

Legendary adman David Ogilvy once stated that "four out of five
people don't read past the headline, so when you've written
your headline, you've spent eighty cents of your ad dollar."
Though you may feel you've spent lots of time fine-tuning your
copy, it's time to go a step further and give your paragraphs
a heading. Your first aim is to summarize content, but if you
can tease readers' interest, that's even better. Why not ask
a question to be answered by the subsequent paragraph? (And
while you're at it, see if you can use one of your key search
terms in the heading or subheads to boost rankings).

Practice Makes Perfect

Like many art forms, writing effective web copy is a skill
that grows with use. You don't have to change your site's copy
all at once. I recommend starting with your most visible pages
and working your way through the rest of your site applying
these principles. Creating an easy-to-scan site enables visitors
to find what they're looking for, read what's most important,
and get further into your content-rich site without feeling
bogged down.
