With the passage of the 2004 Accountancy Law and approval of the amended Implementing Rules and Regulation (IRR) and By-Laws of the Philippine Institute of Certified Public Accountants (PICPA), the entire Philippine Archipelago is now divided into four geographical areas namely Luzon, Visayas, Mindanao and Metro Manila and is represented by nine (9) regions and four (4) sectors recognized nationwide representing the various sectoral interest, namely public practice, commerce and industry, education and government service.
As one of the geographical areas, Metro Manila is governed by the Geographical Area Office composed of four (4) National Directors, Treasurer, Secretary, four (4) Chapter Presidents and sixteen (16) Regional Sectoral Representatives effective July 1, 2006. Under the Metro Manila Geographical Area is the PICPA METRO MANILA REGION (MMR) organized into four (4) chapters based on the location of all chartered cities and municipalities comprising the region, namely:
· Northern Metro Manila Chapter consisting of Kaloocan City, Valenzuela City, Navotas and Malabon;
· Western Metro Manila Chapter consisting of Manila, San Juan and Mandaluyong City;
· Eastern Metro Manila Chapter consisting of Quezon City, Pasig City, Marikina City and part of Province of Rizal consisting of Antipolo City, the Municipalities of Rodriguez (formerly Montalban), San Mateo and Cainta;
· Southern Metro Manila Chapter consisting of Makati City, Pasay City, Parañaque City, Las Piñas City, Pateros, Taguig and Muntinlupa City.
