Acne Treatment and causes of pimples and blackheads Information by b   Message List

Many people suffer with the skin condition known as acne but whilst
it can cause a great deal of distress, it is a condition that does
have treatments available. Skin care products and treatments are
plentiful and research into the condition hasn't stopped. Generally
the acne skin care products available can be purchased are based on
prevention, over the counter remedies and those that you will go to
your doctor for.

The general acne skin care products are the ones that are used as
acne prevention measure and include cleansers, make-up removers and
similar products that help prevent acne. This is a market where many
people use this type of product every day to condition their skin
and protect it from the environment, even if they do not have acne
so it is probably a good idea anyway.

However, some of these are more oriented to act like an acne skin
care product which act against the causes of acne for ex and le,
limiting the production of sebum/oil and preventing clogging of skin
pores. What these products are doing is reducing the chance of oil
staying in the pores and aiding the growth of harmful bacteria which
assists the formation of acne.

One particular acne skin care product is an exfoliation skin peel
which cleans the skin and helps in the control of acne. This type of
peel helps reduce the chance of oil clogging up the pores and
removes other impurities as well, lessening the opportunity for
bacterium.

Now, many other acne skin care products have become available over
the counter that at one time required a prescription to obtain them.
The growth of this market place has allowed even more specialized
products to be available without the need to visit the doctor.

Although benzoyl peroxide works well, it is possible to have a
reaction to it and it is suggested that any skin care product with
it in should not contain the active ingredient at more than 5.5
percent. This might just be a case of trial and error but if nothing
seems to work then speak to your dermatologist for further advice or
a different prescription only product.

Only doctors or skin care specialists can actually prescribe some
medications, including the use of antibiotics and certain ointments
for ex and le. Under certain circumstances, having the infecting
material removed from the pores under a local anesthetic might be
suggested by your dermatologist although this is something you
should never attempt yourself.

Hormone treatment might also be suggested as hormone changes can
lead to acne and this type of treatment has been very effective in a
large number of cases. Tackling acne is not the problem it once was
and if treated properly permanently marked skin does not have to
happen.
