Dear Colleague,
How is your company reacting to the growth of Software as a Service
(SaaS) in the industry marketplace? Do you actually have a SaaS
product out there?
This is the second of our two questionnaires intended to inform all
of us how the software industry is handling this new way of building
and selling software.
Our first survey was aimed at companies that were a) thinking about
putting a SaaS product into the marketplace, or b) had undertaken a
program to do so, or c) had decided against a SaaS product.
This second survey is aimed at software developers/publishers who are
currently selling SaaS products in the commercial software
marketplace. When completed, it will be the most comprehensive source
of information on SaaS from the software publisher's standpoint
available.
This is a big survey: there are 46 questions, but we've made them as
simple and easy-to-follow as possible. You might want to print out
the survey, fill it out, and then input the answers into the online
form.
Our usual Soft•letter survey policy applies: Everyone who supplies
data for this survey will receive a complimentary copy of the initial
results. As will everyone who participated in Part I of our SaaS
survey.
Of course, all responses will be strictly confidential. We won't
disclose or identify data about any individuals or about
participating companies.
We hope you have found our past surveys useful and that you will be
able to help us as we once again explore important changes in the
software industry.
Please be sure to answer all the questions; otherwise we can't send
you a copy of the results.
The survey is at http://softletter.com/survey/saas2.htm
Survey results will appear in our October 31st issue, so please be
sure to send in your replies right away.
You will want to pass this along to colleagues in the industry
interested in participating.
Many thanks for your help!
