dear friends

One of our members has written as follows in the suggestion column of the PR education survey announced by us.  I request members to give their response.  I would like to have the views of Academic persons and students:

The PR education provided by the institutions in India is more theoretical and they don't seriously look at the internship programs. An example - recently, I interviewed someone from a PR institute in Baroda who came to our office in Mumbai asking for an internship program as he HAD to do a one month program. Now, one month is far too less for an internship - it meant his mentor would have to drop everything just to explain everything to him; when I gave him my reasons for the 1 month being too short, his explanation was that the professors in the institute feel 1month is more than enough, as they feel that we only do press releases... the mindsets of those at the institutes needs to change for the students to learn and to understand Public Relations
