The American Cadet Alliance < www.militarycadets.org > (ACA) will be
hosting a three-week military training program for Naval Cadets, Marine
Cadets and Army Cadets, age 12-18. These young men and women,
approximately 200 total, will be attending either a Recruit Training
program or Advanced Training program, depending on their level of
experience in the Cadet Corps. The program will be held 21 Jun - 13 Jul
03 in Mansfield, Ohio.

We would welcome the assistance of an active duty, reserve or retired
military Journalist or PAO, or a civilian with a strong understanding of
the military, to serve as the Public Affairs Officer for the program
during the above dates. Duties would include overseeing a Cadet staff
involved in the following:

a. Maintain the AT web site used to keep parents and
friends informed of training accomplished each day.

b. Photographic (still and video) documentation of the
AT program.

c. Development of a 5-7 minute, high-impact, recruiting
video for the program.

d. Development of a documentary video of the training
program for later distribution to Cadets and parents. Primarily edited
B-roll with natural sound and minimal graphics.

d. Official Spokesperson for the AT program. Coordinate
with local and national media, as well as internal military media, for
maximum exposure of the program.

e. Instruct Cadets in General Military Training topics,
if qualified..

This is an excellent opportunity for a mid-level PA professional to work
in a joint-service environment, with senior-level responsibilities and
experience. The ACA is operated by a team of non-paid professionals who
give up three weeks each summer, in additional to year-around
responsibilities, to manage a high-adventure training program for Cadets.
Activities include typical "boot camp" training - such as military
drill, competitions and watch-standing - as well as high-adventure
activities such as rappeling, water survival and a four-day Field
Training Exercise. The PAO will have the ability to participate in the
"fun" activities along with the Cadets, if desired.

Since we are all volunteers, there are no funds for adults to be paid to
staff this training program. If you are interested, you can request
no-cost TAD/TDY orders. We will feed you and provide you with billeting.
We'll also cover the cost of fuel/lodging for your travel to Mansfield.

Preferred qualifications include:

a. Military E-5 or above, or have a strong understaning
of the military through government service, etc.. Solid skills in public
affairs, writing and ability to be a role-model for youth.

b. Ability to shoot and edit video into a high-impact
recruiting package. This is a **very** visual training program and a
chance to have some real fun in developing a video presentation of the
program.

c. A sincere desire to impact America's youth. A true
believer in the values of Honor, Courage and Commitment.

d. Sharp military bearing (military creases and shined
boots). Proud of military traditions. Solid leader and role model for
young American men and women.

d. An understanding of the value of Cadeting in the
development of young people, regardless of whether they serve in the
Armed Forces. Former ACA, CAP, NSCC, JROTC or Young Marine members are
encouraged to apply.

e. Gung-ho. Capable of passing PT test and helping to
lead motivating PT sessions with Cadets. Not affraid to put in long
hours. We are dedicated to our Cadets and often put in 18 hour days.

The pay is lousy, and the food is worse...what more can you ask for!
Actually, you will be serving alongside a team of exceptionally dedicated
veterans and retirees, Navy, Marine Corps, Army and Air Force, who are
true believers in our country's young people and the importance of
teaching them - through firsthand experience - the meaning of our values.
This assignment won't be easy, but it may be three of the most rewarding
weeks of your life.

If you are interested in having a major impact on some exceptional young
people, please contact me at JMLand@... or by calling me
at (352) 490-7195 (office).
