I have a new customer whom I delight in working for. While I've sold
one press release, there will be more, and to do their job well, I
have capabilities and resources for creating a magnificent contact
list by target markets/industries. The client is conscious of the
need for research and I'm sure will hire me for it.
Much of the research will or could include developing target lists and
making initial contacts to identify the proper persons to approach for
business development. While I can broker lists for North America and
other continents, Web-centered information is also valuable, including
culling all the sites and contact information via the Web.
Does your experience indicate that a flat fee or hourly rate is either
more cost effect for either PR pro or client, or does it work better
to charge by the lot of leads or per each individual contact name?
I've already done the work, yet have not been commissioned to do so,
though the need has been identified. It's taken me around 20 hours to
develop the Web-based contact lists, so far. What value have such
list developments played in your work experience, provided it's handed
over to the client, and how have you been paid for such non-brokered
contact lists?
For most of you who usually use a monthly retainer, do you still
maintain some services a la carte, and if so, what typically do you
charge for additionally that you don't vend from some other source?
