I must have missed Gary's message. Is he saying that the new CDs are not
truly an update but still a beta version of the program? I guess that we see
things differently, but to me no speed improvement is worth having an unstable
program. Like tonights download problems that so many seem to be having.

All,
Gary had posted on SI that users should email them at QP2 to be sent new
CD's when available. Sounds likes there's a few kinks left to be worked out
in the new Database. The speed improvement will be certainly be welcome.

Thanks Janene! Thats what I feared, I run NT so QPV is not an option for
me. I have it setup over the network but its rather slow. The last
discussion with industry monitors I remember said that they should have a
real QP2 version in Q1 99. I am very interested in the software just don't
want to spend more money on software thats locked into Metastock format.
Thanks again....

Subject: [quotes-plus] Re: QP2 and IRL Standalone...
The IRL program reads Metastock files at this time. The folders and files
are set up from the IRL program. You end up with 202 folders. Each folder
has the name of the corresponding industry group. These folders contain the
stocks in that group. You then 'fill' up the folders with data from QP2.
After that they are updated everyday with QP2. The IRL program will also
read the Virtual files. From QP2 Virtual setup you can set up your profile
to be based on the IRL groups, so that works as well. If you like to look
at stocks based on the industry groups this product is well worth it. You
can also create indexes based on a list of stocks that you have exported
already.

All,
From the QP2 website. Question. Does this program read QP2 natively??? Do
I have mess with Metastock data if I order and use this program?? Does
anyone here use it??
Sean
Add the IRL for a clear picture of the winners in your
portfolio!!!
Find winners and losers with the IRL
Which industries are "hot" and attracting investor's money?
Which companies in those industries are leading (or lagging)? IRL is a tool
to answer those questions. The IRL can create an index for any group of
securities and rank them by relative strength or other criteria.
You can see at a glance how securities in a group compare to
each other.
See the stars in you portfolio at a glance.
The effective graphic presentation (winners in green, average
performers in yellow) makes the results jump right out at you. Want to rank
your issues on a different indicator? Just click once and select from a
list; a new view is instantly displayed.
The IRL is $229.00 plus S&H for a service that keeps your
library accurate and up to date. A single use license includes three
additional quarterly updates. Software, industry sectors, historical company
fundamentals and historical price & volume are updated four times a year,
January, April, July and October. (S&H: U.S., $24; Canada, $32; Int'l.,
$60).
For more information, see the Industry Monitors web site at
www.industrymonitors.com
I'm running QP2 BETA (11/07/98) and a slightly corrupted data base (and
perhaps potentially corrupted BETA code, too.) (rather than reloading
the Beta and risking loss of service by trying to update data from
October, while I await the formal distribution ).
I note that Phase 21 runs every night - and seems to take longer and
longer. I run on a slow portable (under 150 mhz, as it's my Win95 base
for now) but it takes well over 30 minutes) (No, I don't have "extra
files" in Incoming that causes this.)
Is anyone else experiencing this? (I thought Phase 21 was the .cdz file
processing, which shold be weekly.)
I know what some of the numbered phases are, but has anyone figured out
the rest of them? (Example: Phase 5 is stock data update, Phase 11 is
MF data update. etc.)
About the same here. I haven't noticed the increase times with IRL though.
I am running the same version as you. Its nice not to be on the beta train
for a while... :)

Richard,
I had also had VERY slow processing of the QP2 beta update tonight.
However, my data for !comp was good. I did update quite late - after
11pm EST. In a message I received from Annette she said that the alpha
data would be discontinued and new disks would be sent out soon. Don't
know if that is relevant to the problem or not.
Denis Trover
Using the new beta , I had, had the problem of freezing at 21 phase. I
cleared the incoming dir and everything began to work, it kept working until
tonight. I went thru the slowest unzip I have ever seen, then freeze at 21.
I cleared the last report. tried to download again. it wouldn't give me any
files.
Looking thru some files I see 0 open on COMP. the 10 dec data seems to be
there except for the metastock format data dir. did not update.
Did anyone see something like this? Gary, suggestions?

Yup, they're great scans for fundies. They include "SmallCap," "BotFish,"
"Canslim" and "ValuGro."
Jim Greening: He the man!
When you import the files, you may have a hard time finding them, because they
begin with 1, 2, 3 and 4 -- for example, "1_SmallCap." So look around for 1,
2, 3 and 4.

I encouraged Sean to follow through on his suggestion of starting this
discussion thread (http://www.techstocks.com/~wsapi/investor/reply-6632657). I'm
hoping that it will be a useful alternative to -- perhaps ultimately even a
replacement for -- the excellent Quotes Plus discussion thread on Silicon
Investor (SI, http://www.techstocks.com/~wsapi/investor/Subject-9637). Reasons
are indicated in my e-mail to Sean, the text of which follows. Thanks again,
Sean. I just hope I'm able to give a tenth as much help as I've been given from
the folks on SI.
John Fritch
Sean,
Although it's probably unrealistic, I'd like to see the whole QP2 discussion
thread on SI moved to ONElist. I've been lurking on SI for 10 months, but
refuse to plunk down $100+ for a subscription on something which could be
obsolete soon and should be free anyway. I suspect many others feel the same
way. Regardless, many thanks for all the help you've given people over SI and
now on ONElist.

See that a few folks have subscribed....
