This includes various commercial radio equipment used by railroads, use of scanners, amateur, FRS, GMRS, MURS, Nextel and GPS as a railfanning tool. Group members also discuss the proper installation of radios and related accessories such as coax, antennas and computer control interfaces and software. We also welcome rail radio frequency updates from your home town and communications related questions from members planning trips to new areas. We also welcome operational news that pertains to communications such as changes to dispatchers jurisdiction, new talking detectors, APCO-25 digital, ATCS 900 mhz frequency allocations and other rail communications related items from the the news media and topic related messages from other radio and rail discussion groups. We also welcome discussions regarding the various live railroad radio communications audio sites such as the RailScan feed which features audio from the Northern New Jersey/New York City Metro area.
