The next meeting will be held on Friday, July 20 at 7 p.m. at the Elk's
Club, 310 E. Preston Ave. in Shreveport. If you are traveling east on
E. Preston, the Elk's Club is located on the left about 1 block from
the 4-way stop at Captain Shreve Drive. Come at 6 p.m. if you want to
have dinner (steak or fish, $7-$10). Additionally, we will discuss the
current Newsletter articles, our July 21 trip to the Texas State
Railroad and other railroad news. For information or directions call

As many of you know, on September 1 the Texas State Railroad will be
transferred from the Texas Parks and Wildlife Department to a local
public-private group called the Texas State Railroad Operating
Authority. That group plans to lease the railroad to American Heritage
Railways, which runs the Durango & Silverton Narrow Gauge Railroad in
Colorado and the Great Smoky Mountains Railroad in North Carolina.

The Society wants to make our "Last Ride on the TSRR" before the
transfer takes place and have decided on Saturday, July 21 as the date.
