This email discussion and information sharing list has been set up by the Waterways and Livelihoods programme of the International Forum for Rural Transport and Development (IFRTD).
Waterways and Livelihoods began as a research programme accross 10 countries in Asia, Latin America, and Africa, looking at improving access and mobility for the rural poor through the development of rural water transport. The research programme culminated in an international Seminar in April 2003.
This email group has been set up to help the community of practice that emerged from this Seminar to continue their dialogue, to share new research and information, and to continue to advocate for greater visibility and integration of rural water transport issues in mainstream transport planning and development practice.
This email group is open to anyone with an interest in these issues.
