This group's main purpose is to discuss any aspect of the San Jose Light rail system. The part of the light rail system, the Vasona Project (San Jose-Campbell) covers a portion of routing currently served by Amtrak California Thruway Bus route 35). There are now two light rail-Amtrak Connections, one at Great America [via the Lick Mill Station] (from Capitol Corridor and Altamont Commuter Express commutinies to the north), and San Jose Diridon Station (from both the San Joaquin Buses arriving from Stockton and the Coast Starlight Train from Southern California. Comments on Amtrak California services, as well as Caltrain are welcomed in this group, but please limit discussion to San Jose connections of Amtrak or Caltrain.

Amtrak Bus Route 6 (San Jose-Stockton), 21 (Oakland-San Jose-Salinas -Monterey), 21B (San Jose-Gilroy-Salinas-Monterey), 21C (San Jose-Southern Monterey County, Central Coast, Solvang, Santa Barbara), and 35 (San Jose- Santa Cruz County Stations, the Coast Starlight Los Angeles-San Jose- Seattle), the Capitols (San Jose-Oakland-Sacramento-Auburn), and Caltrain (Gilroy-San Jose-San Francisco).

The new line to Campbell now provides the first direct Amtrak-LRT Connection in Central California

San Jose Light Rail uses Low-Floor Light Rail Vehicles on all of its lines. The fleet of cars is manufactured by Kawasaki of America in conjunction with Kinki-Sharyo, a subsidiary of parent company Nippon Sharyo LLC of Japan.
