Description
This group is for discussion and news about San Diego Vintage Trolley, Inc., a not-for-profit organization dedicated to the restoration and operation of historic streetcars in San Diego. The organization is directed by board members associated with the San Diego Metropolitan Transit System, funded by grants and donations, and restoration is performed primarily by authorized volunteers. SDVT currently has three 1946-vintage streetcars, and one 1948 streetcar, and all are General Electrics made by the St. Louis car company, and all are presently undergoing restoration.
Photo is of unit 532, ex SEPTA 2186. It came from the Museum of Transportation in St. Louis. It was built in 1948, and operated in the past in Philidelphia. It arrived in San Diego July 7, 2009 via truck. Photo taken by Jeff T. September 15, 2009.
