Google AdSense is the most popular way of making money on
the internet. One can earn money by posting ads and having
them displayed on websites.

How does Google AdSense work?  If you're a Google AdSense
member, you can get codes to show Google Ads on your site.
You get paid based on the number of clicks with each
AdSense link in your website. If you place more codes on
your post, you can have more ads, which in return can
increase the chances of having the ads clicked on.  The
more websites you have, the bigger the chances for you to
get more clicks and earn money.  In fact, many people have
left their day jobs because they do earn enough from those
Google Ads.

However, the success of make money adords or make money
AdSense depends on three factors.  One is the cost per
click of each ad, the web traffic or the number of people
who visit your webpage, and the click through rate or the
ratio of people who actually clicks on your AdSense versus
the number of people who visits the site each day.

What Are Meta Tags and Why Do I Need Them?

There is no other way to put it; the World Wide Web is big
business. As an example, you only have to look at the phenomenal
success of the online bookstore, Amazon. In 2008, Amazon brought
in over nineteen billion dollars in income, yet only required an
operating budget of approximately eight hundred and fifty million
dollars. It really is no surprise to anyone then that more
businesses are investing in expanded web presence and capability.
Yet, not every organization has the same successes. Barnes and
Noble was selling books online before Amazon was even an idea,
and yet it isn't Barnes and Noble that people think of when
considering online bookstores, it's Amazon. The key? Amazon took
greater advantage of the opportunity to effectively market their
product.

Search Engines, Spiders and Websites, Oh My

The most important and often least understood tool for online
marketers is the search engine. The primary type of search engine
is the web crawler - these are largely automated programs that
crawl through available web pages, indexing data according to a
variety of parameters. In short, the crawler, or spider, examines
each page of a website. Once it has examined the page, it submits
it to an index. Then, when a person uses the search engine
software, the index provides links to these pages, ranked
according to relevance. It is worth mentioning two other points.
First, not all engines index the same way. Some use keyword
density; others focus on the content of the first paragraph.
Second, any changes to a webpage are likely to affect search
rankings, so webmasters must carefully consider each change and
its possible effects.

I Never Meta Tag I Didn't Like

One important part of preparing a page for good search engine
rankings is effective use of HTML meta-tags. These tags do not
directly relate to the position a site will have in a search
result, but they do offer webmasters some control over the way
their sites are presented when they come up in a search. In
brief, meta-tags are additional bits of code added to the head of
your HTML document, right after "TITLE." Because of the
tendency for unscrupulous coders to find and abuse loopholes in
search technologies, search engines do not rely heavily on these
tags for rankings. Their benefits to web users are important,
however.

First, there is the Meta Description tag. This is a brief report
about the content of the webpage in question. When a search
engine presents users with a hyperlink, there is frequently a
small description accompanying that result. In many cases, that
is the Meta Description tag the Webmaster put in the HTML
document so that when a spider visits the site, it indexes this
information. This is not always the case, however; Google in
particular will generate its own description for a site.

The Meta Description is often the first piece of information
someone using a search engine will see. The URL may not mean
anything to them, but this description will. If it is poorly
written, the user will likely skim right past the site for one
that presents itself more effectively. Thus, the key is
effective, concise writing that conveys exactly what the site is
about.

The second tag is the Meta Keywords tag. This tag is a list of
keywords the Webmaster considers most pertinent to each page.
Proper use of the keywords tag is also vital. While search
engines use a variety of keyword systems, and have in recent
years de-emphasized the Meta Keywords tag, it still contributes
to website rankings and should not be neglected. The best method
is to examine each page carefully, and pick approximately ten
keywords that best represent the data therein. Too many
nonspecific keywords will lead to inconsistent search results,
and too few means missing an opportunity to get a message in
front of users. In addition, many sites are actively on the
lookout for keyword abuse. Google in particular is known to ban
certain pages from its index entirely if they consider the
article to be an abusive, loophole-seeking piece.

There are other, less relevant tags that can provide some
benefits, though they aren't as important as the previous two.
An example is the Robots tag, which is only useful in making sure
certain sites do not index a particular page. This can help a
Webmaster keep their content from being associated with
undesirable elements, but it does not contribute directly to
higher search placement.

No Meta Tag is an Island

Once again, it must be stressed that meta-tags are not a magical
solution to the very complex problem of online marketing. They
must be regarded as one tool in an inventory of other tools, and
should be used responsibly. Properly implemented, they will help
complete an effective marketing strategy.

If you view web pages as the original publishing platform since the
Big Bang of the World Wide Web, surely this variant platform called
'blog' and its increasing popularity heralds another mode of
information publishing and communication. Maybe 10 years down the
road another new platform is born ('wiki' is the latest). For now,
'blog' is in the spotlight.

The blog shares some similarities with the web page as well as
being the anti-thesis to the newsletter. It has its own URL so it
can also be called a site. You update a web page via FTP upload,
whereas you edit an existing post or create new ones within your
blog account, so it's faster in a sense. Moreover, the most popular
blog services are free (for now) so you don't have to pay for a
blog host service, and so is a good substitute for a site except
that you don't have the luxury of web space to upload other files.
Setting up a blog quickly greatly benefits those who haven't got a
site up yet.

Every week we have to upload a complete newsletter in our
autoresponder and click a 'mass-mail' button. Even so, it may get
filtered out, but this is 'push' marketing. The blog gets read
mainly on-site and with RSS newsreaders or aggregators. Through

forge interactivity with your readers. Since the game of the day is
'communication', no more formalities and e-zine marketing. Write in
the way you speak, keep articles short and regular, and keep your
blog tightly themed by applying SEO.

communication tool which forms a very significant extension to your

Combining Social Media and SEO Marketing

Online social media marketing techniques often hold
benefits for SEO (Search Engine Optimization), especially
when companies intentionally combine these two strategies.

Social media based SEO marketing improves search engine
rankings, increases immediate link-based traffic, and helps
to expand public awareness of a specific brand or product.

Some potential venues to combine SEO and social media
marketing include social networking (MySpace), the comments
section of blogs, social bookmarking sites, and
micro-blogging services like Twitter.

Each of these systems can yield significant promotional
benefits, but only when marketers carefully avoid "spam"
and blatant sales tactics.

Suppose a company has introduced an unusual new service
that isn't available elsewhere, and wants to increase

content itself is optimized using SEO techniques.

For example, a page on MySpace or Twitter will do more to
promote a site if it uses keywords appropriately and has
its own inbound links. A link posted to Digg or Reddit will
help SEO efforts more if it has popular search keywords in
its title.

Some methods to combine social media and SEO worked well in
the past but have become less effective. Blog comment areas
that have added a "nofollow" tag to their links are of
little to no use to SEO, although they can still produce
direct traffic. The same goes for Wikipedia links and most
sponsored blog postings.

Although social media based marketing requires some time
and effort, one major advantage is that it doesn't directly
cost any money. It has also been know to combing fast
results with an effective and attention-getting format.
These benefits will probably ensure that marketers continue
to develop new ways to promote businesses and enhance SEO
using social media.

daily goal.

Focus on what you are doing and especially when working on
your Internet business, do not try and do everything that
comes down the line, as this will put you into a state of
overwhelm.   Choose an area that you feel comfortable with
and become an expert, then move on to the next challenge.
That way you build up your confidence and you can keep
learning and adding to your expertise.

It is important to keep winning at whatever you are doing
and enjoying the journey and then the money will follow.
Your beliefs, attitudes, thoughts, feelings and choices
will determine how you succeed.

6. Learn to Sell! The thought of selling causes most

Pay Per Click Versus Orgainic Search Engine Listings

The fable of the hare and tortoise's race is known by most
people, both young and old., but it has parallels in the
world of  Internet Marketing, specifically in the area of
Search Engine Marketing (SEM and SEO).

Search Engine Marketing covers the many ways by which a
website can be made more visible and thus get more traffic,
these being centered on making sure that a site is listed
when people search for a particular phrase. This of course
covers the area of 'Pay Per Click' (PPC) and that of
'Organic' or 'Merit' listings, all the visits in the former
being paid for , whilst those generated from the later are
free.

It is PPC that makes Google all of its money, and is an
method used by many website owners today to ensure that
their site is visible and thus gets visited.

What is this to do with tortoises and hares then??

The relationship is quite simple really, PPC is very much a
'hare' (gets a website on the front page very very fast,
sometimes within hours) while Organic listings can take a
long time (sometimes months), and are thus very much
'tortoise like'.

In this little story we take the analogy even further, but
first, let us select the rules for the race. In the
original fable, it was just a straight run to the finishing
post, but in the world of Search Engine Marketing it is
slightly different, the race not being one to get a
website's listing on the front page of Google (such a race
will always be won by the PPC hare), but instead to the
finishing point  that marks a successful Return on
Investment?.

Why is this true, quite simply because being first  in the
listings  using PPC is not always the right answer, as you
will see as this story unfolds.

So to the Race !!

Picture if you can the starting line, there is the hare
with a huge sack load of money, money that  he intends to
give to anyone who will visit the site while on the run to
that finishing post. The poor old tortoise has only got his
soap box, knowing that he will have to do a lot of talking
to people, asking them to support his site (by links) and
by convincing them that the site is worth visiting in the
first place.

Worse still for the tortoise, he cannot take the shortest
path to the finishing line, as he will have to go out of
his way to visit as many other people (sites) as possible
in his quest for support. Plus to make matters even worse,
he knows that even when he does get 'support' for this
site, it will take the umpires (in this case the Search
Engines) quite a time before they will even 'notice' this
support, this making his climb to the front page of the
listings and his goal of getting a good ROI on his labours
even longer.

It is no surprise therefore that when the hare races off,
the visits to his site pour in just as fast as he can throw
the money out to people, but wait, is this really the idea,
the way to success? Surely you have to make sure that the
right person is being given the money and visiting the
site? Asking these questions (in the SEM world this in part
equates to choosing the right key phrases and writing the
right adverts) slows the hare down a bit, but he is not
worried as he knows that the tortoise is going to have the
same sort of problems.

The tortoise's journey is, as you can see much slower, he
has a longer path to take and do a lot of work to get
people to notice him and his requests for support, he even
has to make sure that the words (key phrases) he uses (in
the SEM world this equates to those on each of his web

business had already establishes a web presence to support their
brick-and-mortar businesses. There are many advantages of establishing a web
presence on the Internet such as selling globally to prospective customers and
disseminating information to the public.

Most business owner would have already understood the importance of a web
presence to their business. What most of them had failed to understand is that
the domain name in their website can contribute significantly to their online
marketing strategy.

First, we look at a few rules of a good domain name. Most would agree that a
good domain name should:

1) be able to describe your business when people first look it.
2) include hyphen in between the words to make it easier to read.

What I differ in opinion is that a long domain name can be as effective as a

And when the context is right, having a catchy long domain name definitely helps
to draw attention to your business rather than promoting your website name as
the company name, which is a usual practice, but remember this: customers don't
care much about your company name or even your name until they can find the
solution to their needs. That's why context is so important in aiding keyword
research, and having the right keywords in your domain name for increasing
appeal.

Thus, depending on the context where the domain name is used, a domain name can
actually help to make or break your overall marketing performance.

On the other hand, buying expired or unavailable domains is a smart move. These
are truly underrated traffic sources. It's like people going to a shop when it
has already closed down and they suddenly teleport (redirect page) to your shop.
Once you bought it, make sure the web host company doesn't own it (YOU own it)
and you can always transfer the domain to a cheaper host. Do a search for
'purchase expired domains' and you get good leads.

Notice that in the description we haven't focused on the
specifications of Widget X, we've focused on a WANT. Write down

2. What does your perfect, ideal buyer want?
 
Now you've got a description of what your buyers want from your
product, think about your perfect, ideal buyer. Yes, just one
person. In copywriting, you're writing for an individual, not
for a crowd. You'll sell Widget X one widget at a time.
 
3. Why does he want it?
 
Why does your perfect buyer want Widget X? What will it do for
him?
 
Imagine what problems your perfect buyer has, and write them
down. Write down all the problems you can think of.
 
4. Why is your product, Widget X, the perfect answer to what
your perfect buyer wants?
 
You'll notice that up to now, we've focused completely on your
buyers. This is because every buyer is concentrating on What's
In It For Me, and the more you focus on that too, the more sales
you'll make.
 
As we said, copywriting is NOT about the words, it's about the
ACTIONS.
 
So now write a few sentences about why Widget X is the perfect
answer/ solution to your buyer's wants.
 
5. Use plain language in your advertising
 
Now you're ready to write your advertising copy. Focus on what
your buyer wants.
 
Here's how to write the copy:
 
* Start with the problem your perfect buyer has
 
Start your copy by reminding your buyer of a problem he has.
Make this problem very clear, using specifics.
 
* Explain (show) how your product helps him to solve that
problem
 
Next, explain precisely how Widget X helps your perfect buyer
to solve his problems. Again, don't focus on the features of
Widget X. Focus on Widget X as the solution, and show how Widget
X will solve your buyer's problem.
 
* What his life will be like when the problem is solved
 
Paint a picture in your perfect buyer's mind of what his life
will be like when Widget X has solved his problem.
 
* A call to action
 
Finally, remember your call to action: include your Web
address, your phone number and address if your ad is a
lead-generation tool. If you're using your ad as direct
response, include the price, payment method, and delivery
information.
 
So there you have a fast way to develop copywriting skills in
five simple steps. Try them. The more you use the above steps,
the more effective your copywriting will become.

If you listened to all the hype on the web, you'd think
only those who possessed "the secret" would succeed online.
You would think that only a select few had the opportunity
to succeed with a web biz. The only secret to web marketing
is that there is actually no secret.

As a wise person once told me, "The only place success
comes before work is in the dictionary." This does not mean
that there isn't an opportunity to make tons of money on
the internet. All it means is that any program that
promises you a 6 figure income without any work on your
part, is probably a scam. If that were the case, do you
honestly believe they would be sharing that knowledge with
you? Of course not! They would keep all their knowledge to
themselves and make all the money they want.

Newbie Rule #1: If it sounds too good to be true, then it
probably is.

Many people think that traditional business and marketing
concepts do not apply to web businesses. That is not the
case. You need to have a budget, a strategic plan, and a
marketing plan. The only difference is that the web removes
many of the geographic barriers that may have been in
place. In other words, through the web and other
technologies, you are able to apply a concept called
leverage and accomplish much more with only a few

I find too many people who treat their web biz like a
hobby. They are not organized. They overspend on gimmicks.
They have no strategy or plan for their business' future.
In order to make decisions and move towards success, you
cannot treat a web biz like a hobby.

Newbie Rule #2: Do not treat your web biz like a hobby!
It's a business!

The third, and probably most difficult, thing to tell you
is that success will not come overnight to you as a newbie.
I know it sounds harsh, but it is the truth. Here is the
reason for this: In order to make money online, you need a
website with a large and constant flow of traffic. No one
tells you this when you sign up for a program that gives
you your own website so you sit around and wait for people
to go see your website. After two months of waiting, you
give up and you go right back to where you were when you
first started. The difference, now, is that you're a few
hundred dollars poorer.

Newbie Rule #3: Success will not come overnight.

So you might be wondering, "Exactly what does it take for a
newbie to succeed online?"

Here are a few tips from someone who was in your shoes, not
too long ago.

1. Find a mentor. This cannot be emphasized enough. If you
are new to web marketing, having a mentor will make the
difference between you burning out after 2 months or
actually giving yourself and your web biz a chance at
success. By having someone who is in the position you want
to be, you are empowered through the knowledge and wisdom
that they have. They may help by giving you advice and
helping you avoid some costly and avoidable mistakes.

2. Learn basic marketing principles. Like I said above, a
web biz is a business. You may work online, but you still
need to sell something to earn a living. Know who your
customers are. Learn what they want. Provide it to them in
the best possible way.

3. SEO: Search Engine Optimization. There are two methods,
on page and off page optimization. Both of which, are
crucial to your success. By employing some basic SEO
concepts, you will be able to market your website for free
and generate a tremendous amount of traffic in the process.

I know that some of the concepts I mentioned may be a
little bit confusing to you right now, but that is why I
recommend finding a mentor, someone who can hold your hand
and guide you along the process of becoming a web biz guru.

Do not give up on your dream of starting your web biz just
because it won't be a walk in the park. The internet still
is the best way to create a life of freedom and abundance
for yourself and those you care about.

The current job market is unstable to say the least. Many

What to do to Stay on Top in a Down Economy

Business owners from coast to coast are worried, scared, and some
are even considering closing up shop because of what they see as
uncertain times ahead. While it's true that there will be many
business closings ahead, your business doesn't have to be one of
them.
What's behind much of the fear and worry is the constant barrage
of bad news about industry giants failing at an alarming rate.
And, it's not just the what's in the news. Our conversations have
also turned negative about anything related to the
economy.
What has happened to many business owners is that they have taken
what they have heard or read about in the news and given it more
attention than it truly deserves. That has created doubt, which
soon becomes fear, and not long after that, you'll find these
same business owners throwing in the towel and shutting their
doors forever.
And then there's the trickle-down effect to consider. When one
business fails, other business owners then begin to look at that
failure to support their beliefs that things are as bad as they
are hearing about in the news.
If your business is going to succeed, the first thing you need to
do is shift your attention away from all of this and instead
focus on things that are indeed more positive. I'm not suggesting
that you ignore it all, but try to at least get a new perspective
on it all.
For instance, yesterday, I was at the local packing and shipping
store where business was booming. In fact, the owner told me he
was having a great holiday season, despite what the fact that if
you believe what you're hearing about in the news would make you
think this could simply not be possible.
I'm sure that you won't see a story about this business in the
news, either, so don't go looking for it.
Now, I'm not trying to blame the news media for all our troubles.
These companies are nothing more than businesses that respond to
what their customers buy. We buy bad news hundreds of times more
than good news. If we bought only good news, that what you'd see
more of. So it's not entirely the media's fault.
Closer to home, I started to look for signs that things weren't
quite as bad as I'd heard. Sure enough, there is the landscape
crew out on my front lawn, so I asked him how his business was
doing. It was slower, but he was still getting big landscaping
jobs, one totaling more than $125,000.00!
In my own business, I'm seeing more and more clients contacting
me for my executive level coaching services because they are
looking to make this coming year better than the previous one!
"What?" People actually not looking at things from a negative
perspective? Well, they'll see, you think to yourself because you
"know" they just can't be right.
Then you look a little deeper at what's really happening right
now and what you begin to see is that this is the perfect time to
be positive about the future.
Think about it this way. When the economy was bubbling hot,
houses became almost unaffordable as prices rose to record-
setting highs. Yes, cheap money was indeed behind all of that,
but had it continued to go the way it was going, in just a decade
from now, the average home in this country might have topped a
million dollars!
Things are simply adjusting and getting back to more reasonable
levels. And, as in any adjustment period, it's going to be a
little uncomfortable for a little while. And, there is a lot you
can do right now to take advantage of all the changes.
Here are some suggestions for you.
First, go out of your way to find stories of success. Find people
who are now talking about better times ahead instead of hanging
around people who can only parrot what they hear in the news.
Then, start creating your plans for this next year by putting
down on paper everything you wish to have and do in the next 12
months. Go ahead and be bold here because big dreams are what
create big results.
Next, create, find, invent a way to get yourself around people
who are positive, upbeat, and who are seeing all the
opportunities that are now being created that could never have
been if things had stayed the way they were. Engage in
conversations of success and what you want your business to do,
and what you're planning for the next year.
This is where a good coach can be extremely valuable to you and
your business, and it's a worthwhile investment if you simply
can't find anybody to motivate you and hold you accountable.
If you do these simple steps, what you'll find is that things
aren't quite as bad as they are made to appear, and in fact,
there are many places that are thriving right now.
Think about this. Each and every day billions and billions of
dollars changes hands on the Internet. That number may be lower
than it once was when it broke all previous records, but it has
not stopped! It's just lower, and nothing more.
Your job is simply to find new and innovative ways to tap into
the money stream that is flowing and will continue to flow, no
matter how bad things may get out there.
Realize that millionaires are made in good times and bad. It's
not about what's going on out there as much as it is about how
you think about and what you do about it.
Your success comes from seeing things that other people can't or
won't see. Every smart and successful business owner sees things
as they want them to be rather than as they are.
They put their focus on what they are trying to create instead of
what they are getting because they realize that what they are
getting right now is simply a result of what they did, or failed
to do, in the past. What they get tomorrow and beyond will be the
result of what they do today and everyday going forward.
In a nutshell, you can, and you should be planning for a great
year ahead. You should be thinking about how you want your
business to look a year from today, and start working on those
plans right now.
If you'll do these things, and I mean really do them, instead of
just giving them lip service, I know you'll be pleased with the
results you'll get in the coming year, regardless of how bad the
media tells us things are out there.
Remember, drama is what sells newspapers, not stories of success.
Go ahead and buck the trend, plan ahead, and create a business
that will stand the test of what's ahead.. and cash in as all
your competitor's go out of business because they got scared and
their customers now start buying from you!
Think about it. You can either struggle in the coming year, or
you can thrive, and it's really all up to you.

MLM Is Not a Four Letter Word
Having been involved with several Network Marketing
businesses over the years, I've heard my share of negative
remarks about it.  Some might even conclude that we're the
Bernard Madoff of the home business world. While some of
the criticism is warranted, there are many others who heap
praise upon this legitimate business model.

Network Marketing, commonly referred to as Multi Level
Marketing, has been around for many years, and has in fact
provided full and part time incomes for many thousands of
people. MLM has many advantages over 'brick and mortar'
type businesses including low start up cost, no formal
training requirements, and the potential to create life
changing income.

For those that can put any pre-conceived notions aside, and
think that MLM might be worth taking a look at, I would
offer a few suggestions for things to look for in
evaluating any potential MLM business. While the following
list is not all inclusive, it will help guide you in
choosing the right Network Marketing company, and help
determine if this type of business might be for you.

1) Affordability..  While all legitimate businesses require
some type of capital investment, be wary of businesses that
require large monthly purchases. Trying to recruit people
into a business that requires a large monthly investment on
top of advertising materials and other costs can be
difficult. Even when you are able to sign up new
distributors, the attrition or dropout rate in this type of
business is extremely high. If you plan to get involved
with a business requiring a large monthly purchase
requirement, be aware that constant recruitment is a
reality. That being said, there are many Network Marketing
based nutritional companies that have been in business for
many years. While cost is important, don't let it deter you
from joining a business that you believe in.

2) Duplication.. Make sure that the business you join
offers a system that will enable others to duplicate your
efforts. When looking into a business opportunity take a
hard look at what type of business tools they offer. What
kind of marketing materials do they have? Do they have a
professional website that fully explains the business? Do
they offer a varied selection of marketing materials such
as business cards and postcards, as well as Internet
Marketing materials? You need to have a system in place
that anyone can understand and duplicate. Never assume that
just because you understand the marketing system, others
will as well. Simplicity is essential.

3) Real Products.. Does the company offer real products or
services that others will want to purchase on a continuing
basis? With the advent of the Internet, many companies
offer business opportunities based around Internet business
tools such as Autoresponders, Lead Generators, List
Builders, etc. While this sounds great, what if the person
decides that they no longer want to be involved with an
Internet business? There is a lot to be said for companies
that provide consumable products that are reordered on a
regular basis. A good indication of whether or not you have
a winner is asking yourself if it were not for the business
opportunity, would you still use these products?

4) Compensation Plan.. One of the problems with many
Network Marketing companies is that they have a
compensation plan that a Math professor would have trouble
figuring out. With Unilevel or Stairship Breakaway Plans,
Matrix and Binary Plans, One Ups, Two Ups, and so many
different qualifiers, the average distributor has little if
any idea what's required to get paid. Since the payout
requirements vary for each company, make certain that you
understand the compensation plan before you join. Having
someone tell you that you can earn money in 8 different
ways is fantastic, but not knowing what you have to do to
get paid is a bummer.

5) Residual Income...For most of us involved in Network
Marketing, one of the main attractions is the potential to
create residual income. What could be greater than earning
money years from now on your efforts today. While most
Network Marketing companies do provide some form of
residual income, make sure you understand the requirements
and conditions. For instance, what happens if you die? Is
your business transferable? While most of us don't think
about this when starting out, what if our business becomes
hugely successful and we're earning thousands of dollars a
month?

6) Support... This is another area in which many companies
over promise and under deliver. Check to see what type of
support system the company has in place, and don't be
afraid to try it out before joining. At the least, you need
a company that provides tools and a system to address your
concerns in a expedient manner. Having a system that allows
you to email support 24/7 is great but how long does it
take you to get a response? Is there a phone number where
you can speak to an actual person during normal business
hours? Good companies provide great support.

7) Credibility.. While there is something to be said for
joining a company at it's inception, the reality is that
many new companies fail. There is nothing worse than
spending time and money building your business only to see
it disappear overnight. Established companies can provide
many things that newer companies can't, one of those being
a track record of success and credibility. While the
rewards with a new company can be very great, the risk is
also higher. Only you can determine whether or not you
think it's worth taking.

While Network Marketing isn't for everyone, it has proven
to be a legitimate way for many people to create part and
full time incomes without the financial expense and risk
that comes with many other businesses. Considering the
state of the economy, it might just be your bailout!

If you are like me, it's hard to find anyone doing internet
marketing that isn't the best in the business. How can

business. I've been told that excellent marketing can sell
even a bad product. But on the reverse horrible or no
marketing will not sell the best of products. Get this
point clear marketing drives the product. But who can you
trust to show you how to market your product successfully?

Oh, this is what the pros are using.

Now think about this for a minute, would you like your
competition to use your successful idea against you? I
don't think so. Whether you are running a store front
business, a work from home business or a work from home
business, the question remains the same. So why would they
sell such information to you?  Because they know the ideas
are old or missing a key element. That way you buy more
trying to see where that missing element is.

If you gave a hundred people the instructions to get rich
with a small business, how many would succeed? Far less
than one hundred I assure you. We all have different levels
of follow though experience and ambition. Nowhere is this

success. Only you can make it work.

Understanding an Online Marketing Campaign - Part I

No matter what business you have ever been involved in,
whether it's retail, telecommunications, investing, or
insurance, each and every one has their own terms or shop
talk.  The same is true with online marketing.  ("Online
marketing" might include affiliate marketing, MLM,
rebranding, ebooks, viral marketing, and several others.)

As an online marketing newbie, you will have seen the term
marketing campaign thrown around.  What exactly is an
online marketing campaign?

First of all let's look at it in relationship to its
counterpart. That would be the marketing campaign of a
brick-and-mortar business.  If you had a storefront
business, your campaigns might include:

** Newspaper ads
** Radio ads
** Television ads
** Yellow pages ads
** Press releases
** Coupons and giveaways
** Special in-store events

And many more, all of which, as you have already surmised,
cost a LOT of money.

Now let's look at a possible marketing campaign for an
online affiliate business.  First of all marketing for your
work-from-home business will be much less expensive.  Will
you have to invest SOME cash?  Of course.  But much less
than an annual Yellow Pages ad, that is for sure.

Your campaign will be based on your business goals.  The
main goal of marketing obviously is to create cash flow.
The key is not only to make sales, but make repeat sales.
This means there must be a trust level.  Most successful
online marketers work hard to create customer trust.  Look
for ways you can do the same.

The structure of your particular campaign will depend a
great deal on the niche that you have chosen.  (Oh dear,
another jargon term: niche.  That simply means the arena or
category of your product.  Does it have to do with pets?
Real estate? Debt management? Weight loss? Jewelry? Food?
Whatever it is, that's your niche.)

The structure of your campaign will also depend on your
budget.  If you have $500 to spend per month, your campaign
will look much different than if you have $50 to spend.
Plan ahead and make wise decisions where to spend your
marketing cash.  Because, be assured, once you get out
there you will see dozens of offers (such as, "We will
drive 80,000 targeted customers to your website").  And
every one of them will look good.  Can they deliver? Maybe.
 But do you have the expendable cash to find out?  If not,
stay with the tried and true route first.  Learn the basics
first, and then go for bells and whistles.  In other words,
walk before you run.

Three Ideas on Writing Email Messages to Build Your Internet Based Home Business

Using permission based email in a campaign to market your
internet based home business and build a relationship with
people who subscribe to your list, is an excellent method

Finish off with a signature file and maybe a short quote,
something that is catchy and applicable to your internet
based home business. Add a PS at the end of the email, just
something that will reinforce the message in the body of
your email. A good idea is to subscribe to other people's
news letters; you will learn a lot just by following a few
successful internet marketers and seeing how they write
effective emails.

search engine with around 72 percent of U.S. online searches and
its percentages are much higher in other parts of the world.
(Source: Hitwise) However, there are some serious new competitors
that may just take a bite out of Google's rosy search numbers.
Never know, one or several of them, may just give Google a run
for those all important search engine dollars.

Recently, there has been a whole army of new search engines
debuting on the web. If you're a full-time online marketer like
me, you really have to keep your eyes open to what is happening
on the web, especially relating to search engines which deliver
most of your quality traffic. Also keep in mind, this piece may
be fairly biased since Google is directly or indirectly
responsible for around 80% of my online revenue, so any opinions
may be slanted in Google's favor, not that they need any favors
from me or anyone.

But as an online marketer you have to try to remain objective and
examine all angles in regards to these new search engines.
Despite this, in marketing and webmaster circles, everyone will
know even if you have the number one ranking for a certain
keyword in all three major engines Google, Yahoo! and MSN -
Google supplies the most traffic, hands down.

Despite its obvious dominance, Google is still basically the new
kid on the block. We have to remember, there have been many
search engines before Google and there will be many more search
engines after Google. Every entity has its day and then hands the
torch along to whatever comes next. It's one of those subtle
facts of life we all learn eventually.

Everybody has their day - empires, countries, leaders,
companies... or even search engines. Are Google's days as top
dog really numbered? Probably not in the immediate future, but
there are some new kids on the block that could definitely kick
some sand in the face of Google and stir things up, we might even
see a few serious squabbles here and there.

In a recent article on CNN, by John D. Sutter, entitled "New
Search Engines Aspire To Supplement Google" the author examines
some recent new search engines. The author discusses: Twine,
Hakia, Searchme, Cuil, Kosmix, Wolfram Alpha, Topsy, TweetMeme
and OneRiot. Each of these are different, making your web search
more personal, more visual, or connecting your search to new
social networks like FaceBook and Twitter.

Some experts say Wolfram Alpha is the most likely candidate to
give Google some serious competition because Wolfram can do
something Google can't; it can create information rather than
just reading/presenting content already on the web. Will it
present a solid threat to Google's dominance?

Perhaps, a more fitting sparring partner will come from an old
rival with very deep, deep pockets. We are talking about the new
search engine from Microsoft called Bing, which is very similar
to Google in many ways, yet different. Bing's results are very
similar to Google in a lot of ways, yet Bing serves up the
results in a very pleasing arrangement, with a nice preview
button for each listing and giving you related searches and your
search history on the left hand side. Only time will tell if
everyone would rather be binging instead of googling. To Bing or
not to Bing, that is the question? There's a very informative
article on Bing by Farhad Manjoo on Slate entitled: "Beware
Google: Microsoft's New Search Engine Isn't Half-bad." Just
Bing or Google to find it!

I personally like this search engine much better than MSN mainly
because the home page of Bing is very appealing and only has the
search box on it so you're not distracted with other news
listings like on MSN and Yahoo! One of the main reasons for
Google's success, besides the superior search results, has been
its simplicity. Keep it simple and you may just be able to
compete.

Then again, this is a bit of a biased judgment, since many of my
own keywords and sites rank high in Bing; some even higher than
they are listed in Google. I routinely monitor countless keyword
phrases in all the search engines and lately Google has been
favoring big Brand Name listings on their first page results. We
are also seeing more Product Listings (Old Froogle), more video
and more news listings... competition for Google's first page
has become multi-layered and extremely competitive. What's a
poor small online marketer to do when Google goes corporate?

Actually, Bing is not my favorite search engine of the new ones
forcing their way into the spotlight.

For me, the one that shows the most promise and may give Google
some competition is Searchme, which is a visual search (much like
the iTunes interface) where you can shuffle through screenshots
of webpages instead of a list of links. Searchme, which touts
itself as the first multimedia search engine, has been around for
a few years but is not widely known to web users. Performing a
search on Searchme with a 24 inch monitor and 64-bit Windows is a
hundred times more enjoyable than using Google Search or Bing for
that matter. It is a hundred times faster than Google mainly
because you can generally find your information without clicking
through to the sites displayed.

Searchme is truly an eye opener but can it give Google some
serious competition. The jury is still out, but I believe over
time as web users upgrade their computers, operating systems, and
their graphics... Searchme will be more accessible to more web
users. Never know, with the right backing and marketing, any of
these search engines, especially Searchme and Bing could blossom
into a formidable opponent even for the mighty Google.

Here's why: Human Nature!

Whether we admit it or not, most of us (Humans) are lazy, we want
the fastest and easiest route to solving any question or problem.
Searchme gives us the answer much quicker than Google and in a
much nicer way. Mainly because we are also visual creatures,
given the choice between receiving pages of text and viewing
images of sites/answers, most of us will take the visual route -
we will choose TV over radio, music videos over records... video
enhanced content over just plain static HTML. As the web turns
into more of an interactive multimedia operation; visual search
will always win out over text search any day of the year.

Most humans also have a need for speed, in our fast paced life
styles, we all want a speedy solution to our problems. Search is
no different, we want quick answers now, we want instant
solutions and immediate gratification. Nature of the beast. If
Searchme, Bing or any of the other search engines becomes faster
than Google at giving the right answer, then it's a whole new
ballgame.

Google must obviously know there are challenges to its search
engine dominance. Otherwise, why would they be offering many new
features in their SERPs; we are seeing more images and videos.
Plus, Google has just introduced the "show options" link at the
top of their SERPs, which presents their search results in many
different ways. They even have introduced the "Wonder Wheel" as
another viewing option, which gives a whole new way of using
Google's search results.

Google's Achilles' Heel may just be the thing that gives it all
its revenue: text ads. There may be a backlash on all those
Google ads littered across the web, especially among the younger
computer savvy crowd using such sites like the Google owned
YouTube, where Google has nearly obliterated the videos with its
ads. Everyone dislikes advertising, no matter what form it takes.

However, any news of Google's demise will be greatly
exaggerated, because Google, like any smart company with tons of
resources, has kept morphing and changing with the times, quickly
adapting to new features as our usage of the web keeps changing.
Google has perfected the art of staying one step ahead of the
competition. This is one champion that won't go down without a
fight to the finish. Top dogs rarely do.

If they ever present a serious challenge to Google, Searchme,
Bing or any of the above search engines, will have a formidable
opponent in the opposing corner, one that has gained almost
insurmountable prestige and brand recognition around the world.
Any major battle will instantly have a "David vs Goliath"
scenario attached to it. And we all know how that one played out!

Selling in today's economy requires a strong foundation in
order to succeed.  Your attitude, which stems from your

 Only you can do that. The best advice I can offer you is
to avoid harmful external influences and to maintain a
positive outlook.  Focus on the facts and choose the right
road to a successful future.

If you truly believe in yourself, you will be far more
confident and more aware of the current economic situation.
 You will not be easily swayed by external circumstances
without some analysis.

You will certainly offer better service to your prospects
and customers if you embrace the right attitude.  You must
strive for measurable results and believe in your
organization, your team, your products and services, and
most of all, believe that you are selling good value for
the money. This is a winning attitude, the right attitude.

Even during uncertain economic times, you must continue to
work hard in that market and attain fundamental results.
It is imperative you believe in your organization and the
people and products.  If you don't demonstrate faith in
your working family, it will be reflected in your sales
approach.

Your attitude and body language are personal advertising
for the services you provide.  Ensure your representation
is positive and productive.

The current economic conditions make it more difficult to
market your products and service, however, rest assured,
selling during this uncertain economy is not a waste of
your time.  You must persevere and find a new, perhaps
better way to penetrate the market.

Go after the sales results you desire.  It is inevitable
that with the right attitude success is just around the
corner.
