Currently, we are recruiting for a VP of Marketing for a growing, pre-IPO security software company. The position will be headquartered in the San Diego area. CEO will NOT consider someone who needs to work remotely. Right now, CEO needs someone that can be a manager and individual contributor. Someone who can roll up their sleeves, dig in and just get it done.

***** When you respond to this opportunity, please be sure that the subject line of your email states: “VP Marketing San Diego ($170-190k base) Security SW” so that it can be processed correctly*****

If you are interested in this position, then please review the attached document. If you meet all of the absolute requirements, then please complete the form and email it back to me along with the resume that you would want me to send. I will begin benchmarking candidates in seven days, so please email me with your resume and completed questionnaire soon. (PLEASE NO PHONE CALLS AT THIS POINT. )

If you are one of the Top 10 candidates selected to be presented for the position, then I will give you the name of our client and ask for your permission to present you. When I present you, I will give our client your resume, contact info and completed questionnaire. I do not make any changes to your resume or answers when I present you. The client will review both documents before making any interview decisions.

In this market, our clients are setting VERY specific qualifications for their positions. They insist that we only present candidates that meet all of their absolute requirements. Many of our candidates tell us, "The best candidate for a job is not always the person that has done the exact same job before". However, companies that are making hiring decisions are asking us to find people who have done that exact job before. They CAN be very picky. We can only present up to 10 candidates for each position. Sometimes a candidate may qualify, but not make it into the Top 10 because there are other candidates that are more qualified.

PLEASE TAKE THE TIME TO REVIEW &/OR REVISE YOUR RESUME SO THAT YOUR RESUME CLEARLY DEMONSTRATES THAT YOU HAVE THE EXPERIENCE THAT IS REQUIRED FOR THE POSITION.

Title: Strategic Alliance Manager – Networking and IT Infrastructure Partners

 Job Location:   Sunnyvale, CA

Job Summary:  This self-starter will be responsible for strategizing and driving the NetApp relationships with several networking partners and other IT Infrastructure partners, which my include server, OS, or technology partners. In partnership with Product Marketing, this person will identify and prioritize partnerships. This person will directly manage the relationship with multiple Tier 1 & 2 partners.  This person will also manage the internal cross-functional efforts of Engineering, Technical Marketing, Product Marketing, Solutions Marketing, Marketing communications, and Sales as those efforts relate to the managed partners.  Work with ‘Product Marketing’, NetApp’s standard partner programs, certification programs, and developer support programs to establish effective management of Tier 3 partners.  This person would help determine if any Tier 2 partners should become Tier 1 and, if so, champion them and transition them to the increased level of dedicated alliance management.

Essential Functions:  Lead and nurture business partnerships with a set of networking and IT infrastructure partners (including server, OS, and other technology partners).

This includes both large partners (e.g., Cisco, McData, Brocade and, perhaps, Intel, HP) and small partners (possibly Orbital, Celion, Peribit, RLX, Egenera).  This includes both expanding some existing partnerships and evaluating and creating new ones. In addition, this leader will seek and evaluate other opportunities for expanded business relationships with these partners on an ongoing basis. This is likely to include a heavy matrix management responsibility.  Establish close relationships between each of these vendors and NetApp to exchange roadmaps, plan strategies for releasing product, creating certification matrices, generating sales tools, supporting joint sales and supporting customers.  Conduct periodic, high-level review meetings between senior executives of both companies and various lower-level exchanges as needed. Create sales tools documenting our relationships and providing customers and the Field with needed information on our joint solutions. Present solution options to customers. Work with engineering and customer service organizations of both companies to resolve development issues as needed or customer escalations.  Present to customers/prospects in the EBC (Executive Briefing Center) or on site to provide an overview and/or details of responsible partnerships as requested by particular customers/prospects.

Requirements:

  • This person should have worked as a strategic alliance manager for 5+ years and preferably created a partner program in this role.
  • This person should have prior knowledge of the networking and IT infrastructure hardware and software markets (a large contact list with the key vendors involved is highly desirable).
  • Requires in depth knowledge and experience with joint marketing programs, contracts, sales presentations, and business planning process.
  • Experience in financial tracking and reporting of programs is required.
  • Prior experience in product management is desirable.
  • Must be a demonstrated team player with excellent communication skills.

Education:  Must have Engineering degree with Marketing experience, or Marketing/Business degree with Engineering experience. Having both Engineering and Business degree is a clear plus.

Plowing through hundreds of resumes is tough on our job posters, even though all of us are above average. To enable the best candidates to stand out, we are encouraging every job poster to search the ProfGuilds member database first. What member database? Our ResumeBlogs.

Don't have one? Create your own ResumeBlog in less than 15 minutes at www.resumeblog.com . Most jobs are not filled by the avalanche of resumes in response to a job posting, but rather by the job poster finding the perfect candidate, often using Google as their main search tool. But in order to be found, you have to have a web presence that can be searched e.g. your own ResumeBlog.

Don't be googled over due to "Absence of Presence" -- get yourself into the ResumeBlog database and help the recruiters find you!
