Re: [TalkVend] need help with older model coke vending machine

I agree with Harry but think he meant "process of elimination".  But funny, the
process of "illumination" is essentially the same idea.  You need to
"illuminate" the problem by switching out the easiest items first being the coin
mech since it's easy to replace with one that is known to work.  Think of full
size vending machines like a car.  You take certain steps to figure out
why your car won't start.  A vending machine can be sorted out the same way
really.  But older models make it more difficult since there's not much visual
information to solve their unique problems like LEDs or a data/price readout in
a newer model.  Make sure the electrical supply, circuits and entire unit is
"alive".  There could be a short in any electrical line since they are old
also.  Then check the mechanical nature by which it vends.  Older models can
tend to "freeze" up in those areas too. At last resort you might research some
people who may know more on
older models since there is a sizeable crowd into collecting them.  They need
to fix their units too, so try them.  There may be groups/clubs/blogs, etc.

The problem most likely lies with the coin mech. To trouble shoot that I
usually get a different mech that is working in another machine just fine
and put it in the machine that doesn't work. You have to solve this by a
process of illumination. Isolate the problem. Is it the coin mech that's
bad or is the problem somewhere else?
