Re: [taxonomies] RE: Taxonomies SIG meeting issues

For what is it worth, I can comment on my own experiences as a contractor, doing freelance taxonomy work.

Both jobs were working remotely out of my home using proprietary systems, developed in-house by the engineers on the respective teams.  This meant that the developers were creating systems employed indexing/taxonomy  principles and the 'content' team, of which I was a member, was on hand to do alot of work disambiguating terms through these proprietary applications.

The projects were for the yellow pages, yellowbook.com, and an ecommerce site having an application to shop for anything over your mobile phone, MShopper.  Both endeavors were very part time with many starts and stops.

The work itself was a small part of a larger project that was outsourced for the yellow pages, and for the ecommerce site was dependent on servers running properly and technical issues being attended to.

Both positions were solely word-of-mouth.

I agree with Carol on that topic. Finding freelance work can be tricky.
