I am looking for a hardware and software project engineer to creat an embedded system for an OEM machine builder. Work would be done on a time and material basis beginning in mid March.
Project would be to take the present machine control from a Siemens S-7 200 controller to a microprocessor board with five remote I/O sections. Basically, the present machine has all wiring coming back to the PLC. We are modularizing the mechanics of the machine into five modules which the user can replace in the field. Those five modules would include the sensing and actuating devices connected on board and wired to the small I/O board. A plug and socket connector would provide the 24 VDC power to the I/O board and a communication method to the CPU. (Possibly Can Bus or ?). OEM sells about 400 to 1200 machines a year.
Customers need reduced downtime and reduced MTTR. Will need more diagnostics to let the user know hat module needs to be replaced. Some means of communicating to a remote device such as an Ipad or ?
Very brief description. OEM is in Northern Illinois.
