I have just created a new Google Group with the name 669 Roaddogs. I have e-mailed invitations to everybody who had listed their e-mail addresses. For all those who chose not to list their addresses, and are interested...e-mail me either at (licatsplit669 at yahoo.com) or at (atuuschaaw at gmail.com) and I will send you an invitation at your request.
We've been over on Yahoo Groups for eight years now and Yahoo has done very little in upgrading or adding new tools and options. So I have been looking elsewhere for something just a little above what we have on our existing board. From what I've seen that is being offered cheap (free), Google has the competition beat.
This new group site is a place established entirely for the members of Road Sprinkler Fitters Local #669. It is our hope this site will promote communication among the membership. Through the use of new technologies, it's our hope that sharing and discussing information throughout the different districts will increase our awareness, and promote solidarity among our members throughout all districts.
I have created this new Google Group and named it 669 Roaddogs just like the old site. I have also chosen to keep this group private and allow only registered members to view or post messages. Hopefully by structuring the site in this manner, it will promote more open discussions without having to worry about third parties, (who may not be concerned about our well being), using our discussions against us.
Google offers so many more options for us to use and I'll be going through some of these as time goes on. Some of you may already be aware of Google tools, and perhaps more efficient than myself. I certainly hope that is the case!
While the Yahoo Group we are currently using will remain for the time being...I hope someday in the future, if this transition to Google Groups is deemed to be superior to Yahoo Groups, we can delete the latter and remain with Google. Time and input from all of you will determine which direction we should go. Thanks to all of you who are willing to be involved and thank you for your efforts in making a difference in our future!
I hope to see you soon!
In Solidarity,
Randy Fullerton
