9th Annual Entrepreneurship Recognition Banquet May 17th at the Kingsgate Marriott Conference Center on the UC Campus

With the arrival of Spring it must be that time of  year when the UC Center for Entrepreneurship Education & Research hosts the annual Entrepreneurship Recognition Banquet.  This year's banques is the 9th Annual Entrepreneurship Recognition Banquet coming up Thursday May 17th at the Kingsate Marriott Conference Center starting with a reception at 5:30 p.m. 

This year's banquet continues our tradition and quest to recognize entrepreneurial excellence in its many stages and forms and I would be particularly pleased if  you would be able to join us.  Among the honorees this year, the recipient of the 2007 Lifetime Achievement Award for Entrepreneurship will be Mr. Elroy Bourgraf, CEO and Chairman of Ferno-Washington and a UC CoB alum '54.  The recipients of the 2007 Award for Entrepreneurial Excellence will be Mr. David Lima and Ms. Tillie Hidalgo Lima, founders of BestUponRequest and UC CoB and Pharmacy alums respectively; and Mrs. Jean Inkrot, long-time owner of Lance's Bookstore, and CoB alum from 1941.  In addition, a number of students will be recognized.

The UC Center for Entrepreneurship Education & Research recognizes entrepreneurial leadership and excellence at its annual Entrepreneurship Recognition Banquet each spring.  The inaugural banquet was held in 1999, and recognizes both successful entrepreneurs that have a connection to the University of Cincinnati community, as well as students who represent the next generation of entrepreneurs.

This year's awards will include:

• The Award for Entrepreneurial Excellence, granted to a worthy entrepreneur who has given back to the community
• The Award for Lifetime Achievement in Entrepreneurship
• Recognition of two Faculty Entrepreneurship Achievement awards (no nominations for 2007)
• Awards honoring the winner of the 10th Annual UC MBA New Venture Business Plan Competition (internal for UC teams)
• Recognition for the UC team participating in the 3rd Annual UC Spirit of Enterprise Graduate Business Plan Competition (intercollegiate competition for schools across North America)
• Recognition for the winners of the Cecil Boatright Business Plan Competition and the National Small Business Institute® Case of the Year Competition
• Bearcat Bridge Fund awards for student launched ventures
• The fourth California Scents Scholarship for undergraduate students with a concentration in entrepreneurship
