Bernie's Notes
A cliché is described as a trite or overused idea or expression.  While sports may be the field most well-known for clichés, I'd like to nominate "we can't build our way out of congestion" as the number one transportation cliché.  Without taking sides on whether or not this is an accurate statement, I think the phrase should be retired as an overused line.  Going through hundreds of articles, I run across officials saying this sentence again and again.  A Google search on the phrase, "build our way out of congestion" comes up with nearly 600 citations.  Have a suggestion for a replacement?  Send me your thoughts at i95berniew@....  Please let me know if I may share your comments with other readers.
