If you are a contract drive-a-way driver, you don't have guaranteed wages, of course, no health benefits or a secure pension, or even worker`s compensation. You will probably never see much of an increase in your pay per mile, no matter how many miles you drive for a company or how long you stay with the company. You most likely will see no vacation pay, and no holiday pay, or Christmas bonus.
You are an "at-will" driver.
You have checked your rights at the door, because you most likely have not even attempted to negotiate out, or require the company to remove any unfair, or one-sided clauses in their company contract. Most contracts heavily favor the company in all clauses and hold the drivers responsible for almost anything that goes wrong.
The company can attempt to lower the amount they have been previously paying you, every time, on every trip if they like, or they can fire you without cause, for any reason they like, or they can change the conditions of their "rules" at any time, or add more to the enormous amount of paperwork they already require, and they can do it for any reason they desire, and at any time they desire....
.... but there is something you can do about it.
