We are a group of people that are trying to make it in the investment world. Our main interest is gold and gold stocks as the base foundation for any investment portfolio(the ultimate currency and portfolio insurance). We also look to other stocks in order to enhance investment value. Off topic subjects are welcome. On Sundays participants are encouraged to post a Sunday thought based on their beliefs. Be prepared for friendly debate. Civility towards fellow posters is expected even if you disagree.

History of the name: We were originally posters on the old Yahoo stock board for a company called TVX gold. This group was created to relieve the burden because we would deluge that board with too many off topic and relevant posts in general. This also gave us an outlet to debate our religious and political differences. As you can see by the number of early posts (though Yahoo lost them when it converted their clubs to a groups messaging system), we were quite an active group at the time and that is why we frustrated the TVX board. The reason we called it a university was because the level of teaching by the many experienced market traders and experienced people over a broad range of subjects was enough to give you all the education you needed for the 'school of hard knocks'
