OK, that makes sense. If there is no connection from IQM to the indexer, the
IQM will back off for 30 seconds before retrying, so there should only be a
short delay after TOSS starts before those files get indexed and as you've
noticed, it's pretty fast.

Maybe, can you clarify what ones you mean. I think the minimum required is
simply to make sure the <service> element is configured with your mail/lib
service Id and to clone an existing <service> to add a new service. There are
sensible defaults for most things.

New entries have the 'n' prefix and if the indexing fails for some reason, it is
renamed with an f prefix. These items will never be handled again, so they can
be removed safely. However, it indicates some failure. Typically you will see
some indication of failure in the indexer's server.log and also in the
request.log. There is an entry in request.log for each and every file sent from
database/iq/*.

Some examples of failure might be that the database thinks an attachment is
compressed, but it fails decompression. The to.log will normally tell the type
of error that occurred.

Correct.

Yes, these files can be safely deleted.

> Is it possible to start indexing of this files again to give it another try?

Technically yes, but you would have to shutdown toss and rename them to remove
the '.failed' and then restart toss. However, unless there's a simple reason
for failure, it doesn't serve much purpose. If you can identify the mail (from
the ID in the XML) you can just as easily rerun tomindex with the given ID,
which is probably as fast and less hassle!

No it is not - and we will look to improve that over time as we get more
customer feedback about typical things that happen in real life.

Many thanks for the comments

Hi Antony,

thanks for your clarification. Pls. find some remarks inside your mail:

Antony Bowesman (21.09.2009 04:25):
Hi Ralf,

Mail server queues new mails automatically. See the admin guide 'Teamware
Search' section. This tells how the process works. Mail server will always
queue new mails to be sent to the search server by the IQM and these will
remain
in the queue (database/iq/qm097001) if TOSS is not up and running. When you
start TOSS, it will index those queued items.

Yes, you're right. If TOSS is not running, documents to library service and
mails are stored in the iq/096001 and iq/097001 queues and remain there waiting
until TOSS starts.

So, the behaviour you describe does not sound right. How did you determine
that
between 7 and 9 mails are not indexed?

Yeah, that should be understood as: Between 7:00 and 9:00 h in the morning the
items are not indexed immediatelly, as I normally start TOSS manually at 9:00
o'clock when opening my office.

"Search and the Office services" section in admin guide tells clealy how to
index old mails. What do you think is missing from the documentation and how
do
you think we can improve it?

Antony, found some issues not answered - or at least I did not read and
understood it correctly from the Admin Guide and the TOSS Setup Guide:

1. Is it a "must" to configure all parameters and add the missing ones in the
TOSS config files? Some topics are not in the config file and need to be added
manually, if they are used.

2. After starting TOSS and indexing library service, how to handle entries
remaining in the database\iq\qm096001.

On my server. there is one file (f39vmkjv.002), dated 16.09.09, which is not
indexed, but still remains?

Can Administrator delet those files safely?

3. There are lots of dot-failed files remaining in the TOSS directory under
..\ServiceData\9cpccwxr\0000000b\iq\001002 and ...\attach that have extension
dot-failed.

As far as I have investigated, 001002 holds XML-Files describing what to index.
The context to index is under \attach.

If there are problems the extension will change by concatenating a '.failed' to
everything.

OK, files are not index this time.

Can Administrators remove these files as a housekeeping to tidy up the
directories?

Is it possible to start indexing of this files again to give it another try?

In general, the administration part telling "how to keep the TOSS up'n running"
in the Teamware Office environment is not described that much, is it?

Thanks for your comments and advice
br
/Ralf

Hi Rik,

yes, tomindex does the trick. Indexing runs quit fast, I am really impressed.
In the small system (P4, 2 GB, 2.8 MHz) it took just a bit more than 20 minutes
to index nearly 9000 mail items.

Need to fine tune it for german stopwords etc.

Thanks for your advice.

Hi Ralf,

Use tomindex on the tw office server (command line options are available and
needed).
Why don't you let toss run in an terminal session?

Hi Ralf,

Mail server queues new mails automatically. See the admin guide 'Teamware
Search' section. This tells how the process works. Mail server will always
queue new mails to be sent to the search server by the IQM and these will remain
in the queue (database/iq/qm097001) if TOSS is not up and running. When you
start TOSS, it will index those queued items.

So, the behaviour you describe does not sound right. How did you determine that

"Search and the Office services" section in admin guide tells clealy how to

Hi All,

two days ago, I installed a fresh TOSS service to my 7.4 Ed.1 Teamware Office
running on Windows Server 2003.

Actually, it needs to be started manually.

After taking indexing into use by modifying the config files to index Mail and
Library Service, I seems that Library Service starts automatically to index
documents in the Libraries marked for text search using Windows Library Client
--> Library Properties.

But, within Mail Service, it only indexes new mails which arrives during the
time the TOSS was running after manual start.

For my system, which is shutdown over night from 23:00 to 07:00 the result is
as follows:

Let say, I start office work at 9:00 and first action after taking coffee is to
start the TOSS manually and keep it running. As a result only mails coming in
between 9:00 and 23:00 h will be indexed!

Older mails, outgoing mails and mails coming in between 7:00 and 9:00 are not
indexed and therefore could not retrieved thus giving a poor search result.

How to start the indexing/re-indexing of the Mail Service? Unfortunatelly,
documentation does not say much.

Thanks for any advice and help

thanks for your advice. But I prefer to have TOSS started as a service when

How to do that?

If you just want TOSS to be started when you log in, you should be able to
achieve this by using Scheduler. Use option "When I log on" to trigger the task.
Also open advanced properties dialog to add parameter "start" for toss.bat.

Thanks Ralf,

I wanted the full suite of TWO (Mail, Calendar, Library, ..) but the most
important is TWO Mail.

I will try the ports.

Hi Ajay,

at the server side your firewall should allow traffic from port 25000 to 25010.
Do not know just out of my mind which port addresses which type of service.

At the client side your FW should allow incoming traffic through port 25003 to
address the clients notifier. (This works only with a fixed public IP-Address
and one internal workstation, e. g. home office workstation. Other systems
require more complex notification services by use of a notification server on
each site.)

Hope, this helps.

Hi All,

as my Nokia 9500 has nearly come to its end of live, I just received my new

via web service using the communicator templates as I usually did with the 9500.

I get a connection and thereafter a very impressive white scren.

I remember there was an issues long time ago about adjusting the settings in
http-ce.ini in order to accept requests not only from the Communicators.

As this templates a very small, I like them and need to use them even with
popular smartphones.

How to setup this correctly.

Any help is very welcome.

Hi Ralf,

If you take rdp (mstsc) you are connected on a terminal session (you have 2 by
default from 2003 forward), not session 0, that's the only session were the tw
commands work proper.

Solution:
Use "mstsc /console" or "mstsc /admin" (depends on witch hotfixes you already
installed)

Best Regards,
Rik

Hello all,

recently I found a problem when sending mails. As it is allowed for website and
mail addresses to use national characters in it, e.g. http://www.
brüning-immobilien.de the problem comes in when you try to send mail to e.g.
info@brüning-immobilien.de.

Because of the national character "ü" Teamware Office does not accept the given
address. But this address is valid as there are clear rules how to change
adresses containing national characters into a cryptic one without special
chars.

Does anyone know how to deal with these addresses in TWO? Some other
MailClients and/web based Mail Servers deal with those addresses automatically
- very nice?

Thanks for your comments and

Hello Sebastian,

I used the Teamware Office Secure Webservices Tool with their default settings,
that is v3 of SSL but only a 1024 bit cipher with the 56 bit message
digest/secure hash.
As I actually run on old hardware, the 1024 is heavy enough.
The problem comes in here when following the Teamware documentation, which
talks about the old 40 bit cypher - that was used in the past and the browser
are manually set to deal with that correctly - and you create the new certs as
they have a bit better security by default.

Of cause, to avoid security complains one should use as strong as possible
ciphers.

Hello Ralf,

Happy New Year to you too!

If I read the error correctly, Firefox complains that the ciphers used are too
weak - that's why by default they are not accepted.

What are you using for generating the certificates, the Teamware tools or
something else, e.g. OpenSSL?

You should generate your certificates again, with stronger ciphers, so Firefox
won't complain and, more important, you'll get better security. Don't know about
the Teamware SSL tools, but with OpenSSL you have more flexibility in
configuring your certificates, let me know if you want some help with that.

Best regards,
Sebastian

Hi All,

wishing you a happy new year - should be prosperous to all of you!

I found a problem after creating new CA and certs within the secure webservice.

In the past I run secure webservice with IE 6.0, IE 7.0 and Mozilla FireFox 2.0
and 3.0.
TWO was updated up to 7.3/311.

During last week the certificates became outdated and are therefore invalid.
The secure webservice did not work no longer, of cause.

Today I created new CA and server certificates wich worked just from scratch in
IE 7.0 and IE 6.0.

Firefox 3.0 reports the following error: ssl_error_handshake_failure_alert

In order to use this certificate, you need to change the security settings
manually under the firefox url "about:config" !

Search for: security.ssl3.rsa_1024_rc4_56_sha (copy the string into the
     filter)

Doubleclick the entry to change the value from 'false' to 'true'

Thereafter, you can utilize the https protocol and display the site using the
new certificates.

Best regards
/Ralf

If you have 7.0 or newer, you can find from /support folder on CD-ROM
the following tool:

tofrcpwd {-e|-i} {-pwdchange|-eternal} <filename>
This program can be used either
- to force password change of selected users or,
- to disable the 'password expiration' time , maximum password age set
by ADMIN client.

so with that you can set 'eternal password'.

Hello all,

We have mailboxes handdling processes that get interrupted due to the

Our processes affected whenever we forget to change/set the password

Is there a way to set exceptions in INI file such that it does not

We have an issue with Vista, TW Client 7.1 (or 7.0) and opening attachments.

All paths have been set to d:\teamware\..... in the .ini and mail client.  When you do fetch, points to right directory.

If you double click to open a word document, for example, it errors out with a path message and displays c:\...\xyz.doc

My guess is it has to do with Vista UAC or there is somewhere else I need to change pathing.  Anyone resolved this issue?

TIA, Mark

It stops outgoing messages requesting receipts from remote servers, so the user
can never see when the remote recipient has read the message.

With regards to that setting in Admin for "Prevent receipt...", is
this the one that will stop all those annoying receipt notices from

Ah, I was thinking you wanted to prevent receipt requests from being sent from
Office. The only way to prevent receipts it to disable the client option in the

sending a message using gmail (requesting a read receipt) to my TW
account.

Somehow, my account still send a read receipt to that google mailbox.

Is there somewhere else we need to set ?

Regards, Jupp
