We used to call ourselves ViaFonecians, now we're just ViaGoners. But never mind, life goes on and the spirit of those halcyon ViaFone days lives on. Not wishing to lose contact with the people that made ViaFone a great place to work this group was created so we can keep in touch.
For those that have no clue about ViaFone, it was one of the last of the "dot com" companies formed in the 20th century. We started out as mobile revolutionaries in 1999 under the name ZapNetworks . By March 2000 we became ViaFone.com . We only briefly had ".com" as part of our name, and we never tried to sell you toys or BBQ equipment online. But no one can deny we had some of that dot com spirit that lead us to believe we were living in gold rush times, and that at the end of the 20th century, we really could change the world.
Sadly we didn't quite make it on our own, and the huge economic downturn that came in with the 21st century eventualy took its toll on our independent existance. On August 30th 2002, we were acquired by Boise, Idaho based Extended Systems Inc.
If you have something to say, want to keep in touch, or are feeling just plain nostalgic for the company that put the "F" in phone, then please join us on ViaGone. Remember - the Fone may have stopped ringing but we're all still at home!
Note: This group is for current or former employees of ViaFone Inc. only! If you believe your subscription was wrongly rejected please contact moderator@viagone.com with your full name and details of when you were employed at ViaFone.
