Welcome to the Watercape Collaborative page. This group provides waterscaping contractors (and ancillary business owners such as koi breeders, aquatic plant growers and water garden retailers) a forum to discuss the issues impacting our industry. Editorial articles will be posted and members are invited to comment or contribute articles of their own to further the exchange of ideas. Members are also encouraged to share their articles with business associates as a means of engaging more contractors into this network.

This group was formed as a call to action given the absence of any legitimate leadership within our industry. Contractors must speak out and share their thoughts, ideas, frustrations and wishes if we ever hope to see improvements begin to occur. Only when we speak with a unified voice will we be able to bring our questions, suggestions and solutions to the table and be heard by the rest of the industry players. If we remain encumbered by the ideology of trade associations and manufacturers then our voices will be muted by those that place personal self interest ahead of a better future for our industry.

It is time that our industry establishes product standards and installation procedures and adopts universal terminology in order to lay the groundwork for stable and steady growth. Contractors are just one group that must be involved and we all have an obligation to take part instead of abdicating our responsibility to others. Any participation is beneficial and just conversing with another contractor about topics on this site is the start of a larger effort to make a difference.

So if you are ready to expand your horizons and find out what others are thinking about regarding the waterscaping industry, then join in. You won't find these articles and discussions in so called trade publications as they have sponsors and advertisers to keep happy. Only in a forum like this can we openly and honestly converse and it all starts with you.
